How to install windows on a notebook with dead primary screen

I have a laptop whose screen has gone bad and I need to install windows on the hard drive.

It already has windows installed but the secondary monitor (HDTV attached via VGA cable) only kicks in when the laptop boots into the windows OS.

Is there as way by which:

1) I can see the bios on the secondary screen (I need to change the boot order)

2) I can just see the boot screen in the secondary monitor ?

The reason why I want to do this is that I want to swap the hard disk which is inside the laptop with a new hard disk. Now since I can't change the boot order and can't see the boot menu, I am unable to install windows on the new hard disk which I intend to put in it.

Any inputs ?

Are you not able to get the BIOS screen on external display through f2 key/del key? which lappy model u have? alternatively u can try f12 one and the down arrow key once... see if it can get u the boot device u want else in next boot try two arrow down...keep trying.

I don't know the solution for your display problem but if this is what you want to achieve then another workaround is: Boot into Windows of your present hard disk from your laptop. Connect the other hard drive, the one with whom you'll swap through a external HDD casing. Create a boot image of HDD on the hard drive. Swap your HDD. Done.

Bumping the thread as a friend of mine is facing similar issue as OP .@XTechManiac how to create a boot image when u cant see anything on the screen??.
