How to install XP from pendrive/hard disk in window 7 installed PC ::: HELP ???

i have installed W7 in C drive and kept D drive vacant for XP to be installed for dual boot

now when i insert DVD i am getting errors so i am not able to install using CD drive

how to install it using alternate method

NOTE:- i dont want to lose 500GB of date in my other drives

please guide keeping in mind date in other drives
 
Well, you should expect delay as its weekend. :)

Now first thing first, you can not install XP over win7 easily. XP will overwrite win7 MBR and write its own, after which win7 will not boot. you'll have to repair win7 start-up after that. You can verify what I said; online as well.

You can boot system from USB, you need to check with your mobo and enable the USB boot option. But now as your dvd giving you an error, I doubt from where you'll copy the bootable image to USB drive?

your DVD is giving you an error, what error, you have not specified? "can not copy or can not read or what"

Second you have data in other partitions, Do you install XP on that partition?

It's quite easy to do this and I did it just 2 days back.

First you need to have a bootable CD with the XP setup.

Now you need to shrink a partition in Disc Management for the XP setup.

Now after you install XP in the partition then the computer will automatically start with XP.

Now in XP you need to installa program called Easy BCD with which you create the boot options.
