I have two mobile phone - one gsm , one cdma.i want to avoid some calls in certain duration in my gsm phone.i dont want to switch off the phone to avoid the calls since the callers should not know that i am directly avoiding.so if i can show that my phone is not reachable at time by jamming the phone (while not jamming my cdma phone simultanously). Is it possible by putting the phone in some kind of wrapper or container to block the radio wave ???

umm, if you do a hard switch off (e.g. pull out the battery), the phone will not communicate to the network that it is switching off, and the caller will get a out of coverage message

hmm.. i will try that..i have done a bit of googling and found that creating a Faradys Cage will block the radio signal.wrapping the phone with aluminum foil will do the job. I have to try the same.

some mobiles have a mode in which the GSM functionality alone is switched off. Its called airplane mode or something

EDIT: you want it to appear offline? then never mind

Just it put it on offline mode and wen someone calls you it would say number not available/reachable

and you dont have to switch off your phone as well..

Switch on the phone..see that its in network, Pull out the battery with out switching off, And then switch on in offline mode..(you can do so by taking out the sim card..)

And in the end check with another phone the status of your cell..

best way is to divert your phone to a number that does not exist like 00000

this way when some one calls you he will hear "the no. you are trying to call does not exist" simple

I understand what your trouble, check PM :P

my T 610 shows only 1 or max 2 "dandi" signal in office, and once i put that dabba in my jeans pockets. it completely dies for signal.
but i guess the battery removal trick works for most.

this is again a good method but it will divert all the calls ..

If you gsm phone is a smart phone, you can install call blocking s/w.
This is best option if ur handset supports it and you know which no. to Blacklist:ohyeah:
