How to join video files

I have some .avi files which i want to join. Pls tell me a free software for it which does this work quickly.

Win 7 does not have movie maker.

Secondly i don't know how to use virtual dub as i had tried it earlier but failed.

I will try Avidemux, free video joiner & Factory Format and will revert back.

It's really easy in VirtualDub.

Click on File > Append AVI segment, now add your AVI file.
Repeat for each segment, then save the final result as a single AVI.

I could not join the video files using Avidemux as there is no tutorial avlb for it.

I even tried free video joiner & Factory Format but in both it showed an error and said that these files could not be joined.

format factory works most of the time.....try joining .avi files that have been encoded in same codec, bit-rate, etc...usually error happens when codecs or bitrates are different....

And what will happen if i am using H264 or wmp or flv files.
