hi,
I have bsnl 250 plan.. since last 8 months it worked very well. i hardly crossed my 1b limit in any month.. but this month my unit consumption is growing really fast... even though i am browsing very little.. it has already crossed 2 gb :(
and i dont have a clue what's happening... I saw my usage and it showed some 1.5 gb of upload (no torrents run on my pc) .So i thought may be i shall try limiting the upload speed of my pc somehow..how i don't know... i tried searching for some suitable sw s but no success... any ideas pls.. how shall i limit my upload speed or how shall i know who is using my connection  ??

hey, you may be infected with a trojan or something that is uploading away merrily. Check throughly or could be an error from BSNL.

hmm... connect internet, don't surf anything.. just click on

If Sent usage increasing.. then try out which applications are open via Ctrl + Alt + Del --> Processes... If you can't get anything.. remove all softwares those are related to Uploading factor..

If no effect, then Scan your PC with updated Antivirus...

well bsnl guys says no problem at their end..
I am not using any p2p, and i am not sure if there are viruses.. i have norton as well as a firewall... anyway i will check the processes running tonight... hope i see something there..

Look for the software called 'Netlimiter Pro'. It can be used to control all network activity on your comp. It also allows you to block individual or total uploads/downloads. The demo version has all features for 30 days.
IIRC there is also a free version that at least allows you to monitor all traffic.

NetLimiter - The Ultimate Bandwidth Shaper

dude according to them , they never hav a prob @their end,,,
They wud hav had problems,,,Only if they wud hav realised them...or prob used their own service...

and at least untill u're sure of the absence of any trojans/spyware....just don't stay connected if u don't have to.....get your AV/Firewall/Antispyware updated and scan ur sys... if nothing is found....just take it up with the BSNL ppl......
