My desktop PC has two lan cards.

Lan card 1 : for bsnl b'band
Huawei SmartAX MT880 modem ---> Netgear WGR614 ---> Lan Card 1
I also access the net on my lappy thru wifi. My lappy and pc are able to access mutually shared folders. The data is trafficed thru lan card 1.

Lan Card 2 : for simple lan sharing with another pc in the next room (lets call it PC2) via cross linked cable.
Needless to say, all file transfer traffic goes thru lan card 2 :P

Problem :
When I mark any folder on my desktop pc as shared, it becomes accessible to both my lappy and PC2. How can I share a folder such that it is accessible ONLY to my lappy but not to PC2.

I wish to be able to access everything between my lappy and desktop pc, but i want only selective folders to be visible/accessible to PC2

Win XP SP2 is the OS on all systems.

Please help !

u need to specify user based access on the security tab in sharing options

right click folder> Sharing and security

Permissions button: add the person u want to give permissions to first. then remove everyone from the list if it is present.

under Security tab: add the persons name you want to give rights to

Thanks 6pack :)
Tried to follow the advise and found that Make this folder private option is disabled :@

How do i enable it :S

Thanks Troy. As you rightly mentioned in the other thread, the option Use Simple File Sharing (checked) was the culprit.
