Hi,
I bought an Acer Aspire 5738 and i've installed Windows 7 x64 on it... I've installed the vista drivers, for the fingerprint reader... But in the control panel, Win 7 isn't detecting any biometric devices, although im the device manager it shows the driver as being installed properly...
This is my first laptop, and its a bit different from deskys...
Regards

Try to get the latest drivers for your scanner from the manufacturer website and install them, even though device manager recognizes the scanner. You could use the latest drivers provided for Vista. I had the same problem in my HP laptop, but after I installed the driver downloaded from HP site and restarted the PC, the biometric device is now recognized.

@everyone
Thanks for the suggestions, i downloaded the application from the acer website, only the drivers were included, not the application(acer bio protection)

@Gaurish
Nice link, but it worked with the app from the acer website(85 MB), so i didn't install the soft you had given the link for

Nj_gamer,

Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here Windows 7 Category . It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads available there for additional assistance and feedback.
