Linux how to mount HD inside Virtual Machine?

Is there any way for me to mount the real hard drive and all it's contents within a Virtual Machine? Will need to do this at boot up to import settings and documents of my XP installation into a virtual Ubuntu 9.10 installation. Any way this can be done?

Warning: Quick and dirty solution.

Just use normal nfs mounts.

Install nfs-server on host and nfs-client on VM and you are good to go.

Or you can try even cifs, if nfs intimidates you.

^Using VirtualBox, but willing to use anything else if it does the job

@blufox. lol, yeah the mounting would probably work, but I need to mount the HD on system boot up.

@swamisant: both tutorials look a little painful, but I think I will go for a VMware tutorial in that link itself, which seems a lot easier
