How to paint my house

abbY

Skilled
I have decided to take up the task of painting my house taking inspiration from my mentor Jeremy Clarkson ....."How hard can it be"?

Can some1 here enlighten me on
Stuff needed + cost of each ?
Steps to be performed in chronological order.

lol! thats quite hard enuf if you're planning to do it on our own.

Do you have idea about mixing primer or thinner with paint?

Do you know what ratio you need to mix a tint in paint to get the colour you require? some paints show true colour only after the second coat.

If i go to write the basic requirements it will go to about 25-30 lines. Its better to give the job to some asian paint ppl or other qualified people who will do the job in a week or two.

well i painted my own room and it didnt become that bad, maybe coz am more of a James May :p

as for how, get to a local paint shop and he'll hook you up with whatever you need..

What's the surface area for the job ? (in square feet)

You also mention 'house', does that imply exterior work ?

..as in a private independent house rather than an appartment.

Mr. Abhishek. Get a professional to do that :p

I have seen ur house(apologies if u have shifted) and that room is too big to be parted in rooms/day format. Atleast one coat in one complete room is necessary in one go. Dont forget, u have to peel off the wall also before u begin...so its a professionals task.

Rather hire one guy and let him paint and u move the stuff around.

You'll need distemper paint i guess.

Beleive me man your hand will start paining once you finish one side...saying this out of personal experience..planned to paint my hall which was 14feet x 9feet...showed off in front of my parents and cousins that it is a simple job and will do it personally...was phanting and in terrible pain after completing one wall itself...if you still insist then go ahead and post pics of the painted surface....:bleh::eek:hyeah:

Steps:
1) Get a sand paper and clean the wall.
2) Mix the paint (If Distemper) with water as it comes in paste form. (If Oil paint) then you can use as soon as you open the can.
3) An old pair of clothes and few pieces of cloth.
4) Brush. you can use a roller brush if you like.
5) Music to soothe your mind and forget about the pain. :eek:hyeah: :eek:hyeah:

Guess that is it....have fun and post pics of you painted wall...

i wud simply say get a pro to get it done....dunt strain ur head on dis....like in tht add its said "experts ka kaam experts pe chodd dena chahiye" :p

paintin the walls is tedious task....if its smethin like grills or some touchup case u can hav tht done urself.......if u r not experienced u ll prolly messup things n get unsatisfactory results....

You don't normally use an oil paint on a wall, and no you don't use it straight out of the can or it will take forever to dry so what do you do ?

dilute it with thinner and get 1.5 times more coverage and quicker drying time :)
