how to configure the speaker setup in vista ???

i have 5.1 setup, installed the soundmax drivers for my mobo there is only 2 speaker output??????
where can i find the soundmax contolls/ ??
how to know which service pack i have installed????????

First, to know which service pack you have, you can right click my computer icon and get the information there.

Alternatively you can run --> dxdiag and get all information here as well.

To configure soundmax speakers to give the 5.1 config, you will have to install soundmax sound manager (comes with the cd, i Guess) The icon will appear in the taskbar once installed. Install sound driver properly and reboot when prompted (multiple times if required).

Once you open the sound manager, you will be able to change setup from 2 speaker to 5.1.

Go to Control Panel -> Sound

It sound first tab you will see your "Default sound Device"

Select that and bottom configure button will be enabled click on that.

Set your Speaker setup to Surround Sound.

I hope that will help.

i uninstalled the existing drivers and restart ..............

vista installs the drivers itself...........but i also install the soundmax drivers,it doesnt ask for restart........sound starts workin right aftr , but im not able to configure it to 5.1

can nyone give screenshots to help

i configured it to 5.1 ...............tested it.........

see the attachment......

but windows media player is giving output to only 2 speakers........

tried gom player also , same results :(

try Speaker Fill , or some similar option

It should be in Control Panel > Sound > Speakers > Enhancements

Allows 5.1 playback from two channel sources
