Hello folks,

I need some info... a friend of mine needs to ship furniture items from his house in India (Kolkata) to his house in the US (where he is at currently).

He needs a shipping company to basically go to his house in India, pack his stuff up and then ship all the furniture via ship/ vessel to the US. He is ready to avail a shared container aboard a vessel to get his stuff shipped across to him.

Does anyone know of a company that provides such services in India? If anyone can shed more light into this I will really appreciate it.

Thanks.

I think he can get whatever furniture he wants for much cheaper over there than bearing the cost of shipping from India to USA.

And that's without accounting for currently strained supply chain. I guess your friend is looking at expense of 6-10 lakh.

He is ready to pay the costs as this furniture has sentimental values for him since it belonged to his family.

Are you aware of a company that does this, even if for a high cost?

I used this co for a move from USA to india - One truck full of stuff.
They have good reviews (and provided the best rates)
There is an entire forum on it (the reverse of it though)

Personal stuff. I was moving back to india after a long term deputation. Most of it was my giant vinyl, CD collection and HiFi setup. Also random clothes, toys, small furniture, books, pc peripherals, Christmas tree and decorations etc.

Moving stuff from USA to India makes sense though cause either these things aren't available here or we need to pay a lot to buy them here.

One of my Friend's Aunts got wooden furniture made in India for her house in the US and imported it by Sea. This was in late 1990 / early 2000s. Not only the quality of the custom furniture was superior to the run of the mill furniture you get in the US it was also cheaper by 50%.
