How to turn off display when on call?

hi

i have n73 and 5800

whenever i answer/make any call the display should go off as per display power/light settings but instead it stays on till the call get ended.

It eats lots of battery so any workaround/setting to turn it off while on call??

I have the 5800, and during calls the display goes off when the phone is near the ear. Check if your proximity sensor is enabled under Settings -> Phone -> Sensor Settings -> Sensors

ah got it on 5800 bt how about for n73 and n86?

I haven't used those phones, but I don't think they have the proximity sensor. I might be wrong

ya bt my n70 backlight used to go off after some time while on call

The N73 does not have a proximity sensor, the best you can do is to set the backlight to go off after 30 seconds of inactivity and make sure you don't accidently press on any keys while talking on the phone.
