How to use Net on iPhone

Not possible to connect your laptop for Internet via iPhone.
You need settings of GPRS / Edge, Is should be entered in Settings> General > Network > Cellular Data Network
enter all the settings then Enable Cellular Data & it should work

The tethering feature has been built into iOS with version 4.3. Although jailbreaking has popped up issues with Wireless Hotspot. Like I am not seeing any Wireless Hotspot feature on my jailbroken and unlocked 3GS. I plan to re-jailbreak it and hope that it gets OK.
Previously people could purchase the Cydia app called MyWi for $20 and enable wireless tethering on their iPhones.
@OP - You need to upgrade to 4.3.1/4.3.2, jailbreak and then unlock your iPhone to enable Wireless Hotspot.
Also you need to apply cellular data settings for your carrier. Get them from the concerned customer care, apply them into your iPhone at Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data Network.

1) Edited: System/Library/Carrier Bundles/Carrier name/ to AllowEditing. With this Cellular Data Editing tab appears & one can set the APN, AirtelGPRS in my case. All worked till I re-booted the device, Editing option vanished & Error of Call Forwarding appeared on making any call. Finally reverted back.
2) Downloaded Supreme Preferences 3.0 & activated using Winterboard. Cellular Data Data Editing Tab appeared but Sound control & Phone Lock tabs dissapeared. Seems to be some bug in there. So again removed the Software.
Now, looking for some bug free option to set APN & start using Net. Ofcourse not going to go in for some Paid App!
