How many radio stations can you tune into using the fm radio in an mp3 player??Can you listen to any news channels like bbc world or others??

just share your experience.....

^^ Do you get BBC world or other news channels??

All i get here is one local version of doordarshan. That's all.

Don't get BBC news, but the rest of them (6 in total) available here are really nice and useful.

I hope you meant something else while phrasing this question, but if what you wrote is what you meant, then the Simple answer is : As many as you would get in any regular FM radio! :P There is no difference btween the FM radio on a MP3 player or a stand-alone FM radio

The commercial licenced FM bandwidth is from 88 to 108 MHz.

BBC World, and other news channel do not fall in this band.

Only a few radio stations here as well..

but i read that if i change the language on my mp3 player (Creative ZVM) to Japanese, i'll be able to access Japan's frequency range :O

but i havnt tried it yet coz i dont have enuff time to kill :P

and to add a 'lil' extra..

90% of the time some Dj Yamamoto wd be chow chowing his way to the audience which is gonna go over ur head..

unless u know japanese..

;)

^^Oh i see. thx for the info.

Actually, all your TV channels audio signal are in FM. But their frequency is much higher than what an FM Radio can catch.

I remember my VCR (which is built for TV channel frequencies) usd to catch FM radio channels too.
Infact I used to get some static sorta signal too (from my cordless phone). Ofcourse cordless phone encrpyts the signal, so I couldn't get a proper reception via VCR.

I guess I could've snooped on police too. They also use FM bandwidth, albeit different frequency spectrum. :p

You'll have to go to Japan to access those FM stations then :P. Frequency Modulation has a maximum range of around 50km and nothing more unlike AM which can be heard halfway across the globe :P.

Actually bandits in bihar use FM radios to snoop in on police communications.  Infact only the intelligence and military use any sort of encrypted communications in this country.
