Got my hands on one finally.... Now i will be installing it in a day or two as i am expecting a good cooler by then for it... My question to you is that how well does it overclock on an average on exotic air cooling... I have an Sli Dlx to mount the monstor and will be coupling it with UCCC's... Power source is my trusted Zebby 540 but it also powers a X1900XT... So keeping all factors in mind what are the speeds i should aim for... Not looking forward for setting records(As they are for kids) but looking forward to extract the best out of it...

Also can somebody throw light on Sli Dlx 1:1 FSB issues when FSB is over 250... I am sure i heard it somewhere but where exactaly i dont remember...

Ohh btw the Stepping is LDBFE 0609TPAW... And yes it was sort of a gift so plz dont ask for the pricing :D...

Awesome stepping, amazing gift! Might hit 3GHz, but should definitely reach 2.7GHz.

Raghu.

lol buddy..... "stepping" ? he just mentioned 3800+ x2....

assuming its a s939 (as u mentioned sli dlx).........

here goes:

ur PSU will limit u now.... unless the build quality is real good of the PSU (questionable?)

cuz the CPU will drink power like theres no tomorrow and the x1900xt will be there to give competition to it..... so watch out.

unless you give us a stepping, we will be unable to speculate any oc figures but my guess is 2.8 ghz air....... what say you?

Switch , The proof of the pudding is in eating it.
so stop speculating and Get on the job ...show us some good results ....
hoping to follow you soon .....

OT:

switch can u lend me the stock hsf of that thing if u plan to use another cooler ? check this n lemme know,

http://www.techenclave.com/forums/want-rent-stock-s939-dual-76861.html

thanks.

EDIT :

ooops i dont think the 3800X2 comes with the heat pipes wala cooler ... anyways do lemme knw if it comes wid one... if it doesnt then will its stock cooler be good enough for a 3000+ ??

Its the same as 3000+ wala re... Nothing different :P... try the guys with Dual core Opty's...

@Added later...

Here we go again :P...

@Edit 2... Dammm this thing gets hot :P... No more clocks till my cooling comes ;)...

Sure DJ... Btw thanks for confirming that i made a correct decision :D...

Well if the yields of kensfield (quad cores) is good then within months you will see the prices of conroe (dual core cpu's) plummet by more than half. that would be a good time to get them along with fully debugged/ bios optimised and cheap m/b's.
Currently monetary considerations prevent me from investing Rs. 40K or thereabouts for the conroe platform.(Cpu + m/b + 2 GB Hi-Quality DDR2 rams)

QFT

It is not about 40K... its about the timing... I dont see any games using X2 forget conroe by January... And by then the quad game will be on :ohyeah:

What !! Saiyan's dad did bulk shopping for TE or what in Singapore :P ??

Nice OC there Switch....keep pushing now :P .....

And has the multi on the X2 3800+ always been 10x ?? :S :S I think I am becoming dumb :ashamed: I thought it was 9x....

lol man, 3800+ is clocked at 2Ghz so obv. the multiplier will be 10x:P.

You should have got confused with opty 165 which is 9x multi and clocked at 1.8Ghz

well..as you know my X2 sclaes to 2.7ghz! yay.

Do you have a E6 or the older revision (E4?) if it says CD in the stepping should be E6.

anyway, legend has it the E4 is a manchester core and the E6 is a toledo with half cache disabled, so generally the E6's are stable at much higher clocks. The prob with the E4 is generally one core fails at around 2.5ghz while the other one is fine.

I have also heard there are some issues with FSB over 250 with the Asus...altho a friend at EOCF said a new bios fixed the prob... so maybe try flashing
