Well based on feedbacks here I decided to scrap the idea of a series 90...the 7710..
Now interested in an O2 XDA 2i, any leads as to its availability n cost...??
Anyone using it? feedback?

Yes well i am using imate pda2k a.k.a o2 xda2s for past 11 months.
And what do u know this is the first phone/pda to be for such a long time with me.
Abt ur xda2i,
The difference compared to my phone being:-
the xda2i processor being 530 mhz compared to my 416
The camera resolution is 1.3mp compared to my .3 mp
But again dont get too much excited, the quality is still crap even with 1.3mp since cmos sensor.Believe it i have seen it myself.
Abt the wifi, mine and xda2i both have 802.11b.
Wifi is good, yes i have tried it and it connects flawlessly.
Abt the stability, yes its quite stable enuf, but still u have to restart it once a day.The hangs are quite rare(Windows OS:) ).
Multimedia wise it is fully packed, yes sir.
You can directly play all the mpeg video files without converting them without any drop in fps.
But still i convert them using divx,i dont have 20 gb harddisk in my pda.
U might as well get a 1gb mmc cost somewhere arnd 2400,and dont buy anything less than 1 gb.
Abt the availability i live in mumbai.
There are many shops in heera panna that sell them for abt 30k.
Alfa or irla also stock them i think.
Also i suggest u to rather go for imate pda2 than 02 xda2i.
Dont get alarmed,All these devices are made by the same manufacturer HTC,taiwan.
There are different companies like o2,imate,qtek that act as distibutors and just add their brand names and their own firmwares.
Hardware specification is all the same.
Reason i said to go for imate is that they are cheaper than o2 and have good customer support and release updates more often than o2.

It's too bulky for my liking, with insufficient battery power if you're going to use WiFi a lot. Then then camera's no big shakes either. The images never came out clear regardless of lighting conditions I shot pictures in. Oh and the display's only 65K.

The phone functionality is only minimal too. For example it's a pain to access your SIM contacts and there's absolutely no way to read messages that you might have unfortunately saved on the SIM. I couldn't find any third-party apps capable of this either.

As a PDA it's good though, no doubt about that. It uses Windows Mobile 2003 SE and has a fast processor - XScale 520MHz, and good amount of memory 128MB RAM and 128MB ROM.

But weighing the options what would I say? Definitely not worth the 45k price tag that comes attached to it. Instead wait and pick up the 990i; I remember you raving about it :)

^^Nice review. I use an Imate Jasjar(O2 XDA Exec is the same). Its an awesome convergence device. Throws in everything including the kitchen sink. It has 128MB of free memory (other than the OS) and an MMC slot. Wireless+BT and a 640x480 display with a full qwerty keyb. If you are okay with the weight, its the perfect cellphone+PDA. If you want something lighter and cheaper, go for the Imate Jam.

Yes I was...and I do have some time to kill before investing in a PDA, which'll be my first (at least outta my wallet) as we get the mandatory blackberry @ office.
Anyways when is the P990i going to be out?

@Chaos
How much did jasjar cost u,i am abt to sell my pda2k and get a jasjar, drooling for months for that baby.

@tracerbullet
I think u can copy all the sim contacts to ur phone memory and when u want to access it,Just assign it to a hard button above.Atleast thats what i did. Also the active sync is a fantastic software,U can backup ur contacts whenever u want to.Also i was quoted abt 30,500 for Imate pda2 a.k.a o2 xda2i(Obviously without a bill)
@Vandal
I think if u dont have that much dough u shud go for jam as chaos said or better if u dont need a wi-fi and still need a bigger screen for fantastic multimedia experience gor for o2 xda 2 plain.Shud cost u abt 25k.
Or u can get a second hand one for abt 17k.
A few years back i was a big fan of nokia,But soon later i thought of buying something unique to flaunt abt, thats where i changed to pda/phone.
Go for ppc if u have enuf money, multimedia experience is way better than what nokia has to offer because of its raw clock speed, ati imageon graphic chip and in-built memory
and a touch screen:clap: .
If u want to play games, watch movies and stuff definetly go for ppc's
I have played games like age of empires (believe me i find no difference between the ppc version and the pc version),doom,Pocket strippoker:P etc
Also as a PIM,its the best.
I mean u can do everything to manage ur daily errands with the help of this baby.
Chaos i think u must be aware of the Pocket Informant Software:-Its the best PIM out there.
Also as a phone i think this generation pda/phones have got quite matured in that section too. Some months ago there were little probs in this area,But i think the Latest firmwares Have rectified abt 98% of them.
Now i dont have any probs while talking, good sound clarity and reception.
I think it might be complicated if u are completely new to it,but after getting the hold of it,U will dump any other phone in front of it.
Battery life as tracer bullet said,
Yes if u use too much wi-fi it will drain ur battery but still i think it will last for abt a day with playing mp3s,games and stuff.
Also i shud mention that u can get a higher rated Battery which is compatible, with o2 or imate, yes they are also available if battery life is a concern.
There are loads of software and games available for ppc so dont worry abt the functionality.
Also i think new products like xda atom have also emerged better check them too.

^^I got it thru internal sources in the company. Didn't pay for it. I cant go back to a non pocketpc phone now. its just worlds better than any nokia. surprisingly, the battery life of the jasjar is excellent. I charge it once in 3 days.

Chaos...other PDA users.....now I've seen O2's site...the xda 2i is out cause a the cost..

I was interested in the XDA 2 and the XDA 2s....the 'S' model has a slide keyboard thats qwerty so it'll be familiar to me using a blackberry now...

what would be the cost of the XDA 2 and the XDA 2s? where could I get one...?

Impressed with the XDA mini S as well....nice n light, compact too...only demerit will be the smaller screen....
I don't need a good camera....So anything in the 25K range max 30K in the O2's or imate's with a 3.5".....

I don't like touchscreens and would prefer a full keypad..
thanks

You might like the Atom as well then. It's O2's new mini PDA phone with super functionality. I had reviewed it some weeks ago for TOI but I wasn't too impressed with it, to be frank. Oh but it doesn't have full keyboard.

Why don't you also check out Palm's stuff? The Treos have a querty keyboard as well as a touchscreen. The Treo 700w, yet to be released here, comes with Windows Mobile 5.0.

Imate has distributors in india. Check imate's site. Windows mobile phones are expensive in general. The jasjar is around 50-60k i think. Not sure of the rest.

I'm in Chennai... I am interested in the imate Kjam or the O2 XDA mini S..

vandal the best and the cheapest way to get an o2 phone(my suggestion is o2 atom) is through any friend or realtive from UK coz there its available on contract basis and its either free or one just have to pay a very little price...

so you can get that phone from uk and get it unlocked...better get it unlocked from uk itself coz u might face some difficulties here as o2 is not that common here...

so if u've any friend or relative there or any of ur friend who has contacts there might be abe to help u...

these days its so easy to get hardware from abraod coz so many ppl are travelling...

hope ur lucky...
