Hi all,
This has been dogging me for quite some time now. Although there are better ways which I would be experimenting in the days to come here is a simple solution to add 2 more DNS servers to your existing DNS server list. First go to your modem/router either at 192.168.1.1 or whatever it is. Open it up, look where DNS is given & give names of 2 DNS servers that can be done. Save & reboot the modem/router so its saved there.
Now come to Windows. I am using XP here as that is what I have.
1. Go to Control Panel > Network Connections >
2. Choose your connection if you have more than 1 ethernet connection in your connection.
3. Right click on your connection & choose properties. In the General Tab itself look for TCP/IP Internet Protocol (usually the last entry) press on properties
4. Give the appropriate IP Address, Netmask & Gateway if not already given.
5. Press on advanced button in lower right corner, go to the DNS tab and enter the router IP Address, another couple of DNS servers. One can just check the suffixes to be appended to the 1st one in the list (which one is in the router) or manually entering.
Hopefully people have a happy time after this, one thing more people could also give a shot at using opendns . OpenDNS . Enjoy
