Getting an Inspiron 1521 with the following config.. need advise on how good it is.. especially the video card.. for 900$ .. or should I go for Inspiron 1520 based on Intel and NVIDIA?

Inspiron 1521 AMD Turion X2 TL-56 (1MB/1,8GHz)
Vista Premium
2 GB RAM (667 Mhz)
15.4 " 1140 X 900
ATI RADEON Xpress 1270 HyperMemory
DVD Writer
2 MP WebCam
BlueTooth

If you dont want to game, this video card should be fine enough. But if you want to run games, it is infinitely better to go for Core2Duo and a 8600m GT card.

looking at your monitor size .. looks u wanna game. get a c2d based with better GC .. not sure if that will suite you $900 budget.

Not really want to game.. it's for my wife.. not too sure about the Dell now.. looking at Sony VIAO now.. how is their N Series? Here's a config i'm getting from Sony at about $850 + taxes .. not as powerful as the Dell but lighter & sleeker.. all white casing

N series is their basic budget series. Compared to Dell, it has a slower processor and more importantly only 1 GB of RAM which should make Vista run noticable slower. I would recommend that you either add 1 GB Ram or go for Dell 1520. I am sure you can bring the cost down to around 900$ with coupons.

Another option to look at is the HP dv2500/dv6500 series.

why don't u try the dell vostro series...with 900$ budget u can get core2duo proccy as well as 8600GT card too...basic price is arnd 600$(c2d 1.6Ghz,2MB L2,15.4" with truelife)+169$(for upgrading to8600GT)+150$(Extra 1GB of RAM) = 919$s....i'd say best config for that price if u wanna game....else it'd be just 600$ if u r happy with 1GB RAM...rest of the config is as good as u'd get with any other brand but this one is at a killer price...
