HotHardware's review of the top-end gaming rig will be enough to push you over the edge. The folks there got their hands on a pre-release version of the system, loaded with a Core 2 Extreme QX6850 processor factory overclocked to 3.67GHz, 4GB of Corsair dual channel DDR2-8500 RAM, and two GeForce 8800 Ultra cards running in SLI mode, among other desirable specs.

Been seeing this around for quite some time... man, I'm thinking hard and hesitating to spend 11k on Stacker 810... but I would buy if I get THIS cabby without a blink.

It uses ASUS striker board which is nVidia chipset, runs SLI... the catch is HP & Voodoo engineers found a way to mod bios to enable peer-to-peer data transmission on both PCI-Ex ports (which is required for Crossfire). That's how they can run both SLi and Crossfire on same board.

Agreed, the system is costly... but it's good to see the options to use either of the multi-GPU technology on same board.

why would a ATI fan buy this???? its using Nvidia 8800 Ultra....

This system's board(I think its a 680i striker extreme) comes with a customized bios that allows both crossfire and SLi. Its the only 680i board that allows peer to peer data writes over the PCI-E bus... a requirement for crossfire. Seemingly it might be possible to do even 3 way crossfire.
