I have an HP Pavillion G6 laptop bought in July 2013. It has AMD A10 processor and AMD Radeon 7670M GPU. The internals of the laptop work fine, i.e., it's usable with an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor. The laptop, though 8 years old, has been used only for 5-6 years. At various points in its life, it has remained unused, as follows:
- During May 2015 to somewhere around March 2016, I was exclusively using my office laptop for everything
- During December 2017 to March 2019, it was waiting for the screen to be repaired, since the screen had developed a flicker problem and I didn't have an external display handy
- During March 2020 to date it has been lying unused as I got a new laptop
The laptop has following faults:
- After boot, the screen works fine for a while, then starts to flicker. I don't think the display itself is damaged, I even got it replaced once earlier, which didn't solve the problem. But I have no idea where the fault could be.
- Many keys on the keyboard don't work.
- Touchpad is a bit of a hit and miss. It will work for a bit after boot then suddenly stop working
It has a 1 TB HDD and a 1600 Mhz 4 GB Samsung RAM. I had upgraded it to 8 GB, but after I got my new laptop, I put one 4 GB module in my wife's laptop. I am going to do the same with the SSD which shows in the screenshots. Hence consider the laptop to be without SSD, regardless of the screenshot.
Not looking to sell this for parts.
