I was thinking of buying the HTC touch 2, but a few friends warned me against the quality of HTC products. Any of you guys faced any kind of problems?

Depends on what you buy.

Any touch screen device needs to be handled more carefully than other regular phones. Large touch screens needs to be handled even more carefully.

And quality depends on product you buy. HTC's high end products are top notch these days. Service is getting better but still long wait is there on repairs ( its same for almost every brand here except apple ). And yes there is preferential treatment of customers. They try to keep high end product users happy :P

TP2 is solidly built.

I certainly hope so! coz i dont see a good alternative to the touch2. I am willing to throw in some more money, but what other device has all the features and is smooth? this is the only 6.5 winmo device!yet..

well i have owned the original HTC Touch (P3450) for 3 years now.. and till date not a single problem faced.. i now use a cooked WM6.1 Rom from Onyx...its running as smooth as ever.. also as shripad said the top end models are solidly built.. so m desperatly waiting for the HTC HD2 to come to india.. that phones epic..

i have a HTC 3350 for more than a year now and no problems.....

Also i have dropped the phone several times on the ground and except for some scratches , still working fine

i have been a htc user for past three years and will not be changing it in near future, but most htc phones are not for a average guy who want good music and good camera in a phone.

they r good enough phones, multimedia is not there forte. audio playback is tolerable still, but camera sucks big time.

When a guy is planning to buy TP2, he is obviously looking for physical keyboard :P

Samsung is great multimedia device, but again it does not enjoy same sort of community support that HTC devices enjoy. The UI matters for business users and this is where HTC is currently scoring over others. The community support from XDA and TF3D are very big points in HTC's favour.

the amount of application it will allow me to install and the kinda of roms i can keep on changing :ohyeah: and yes touch screen.

i basically wanted a phone with big screen to read ebooks. so got htc. once i got that i got so used to it, that i cannot think of a change.

HTC support is bad but samsung support is non existence. for HTC software issues there is a large forum to back it but nothing much for samsung.

Asus has good support but not yet having good competitor models.

This was my experience with all three of them.
