Not just HTC.. a few days back Samsung introduced the 0% EMI scheme without a price cut. Today's TOI front page offers the 0% interest scheme along with a 15% cash back.. effectively bringing the price down to 27k for the Galaxy S3

Actually its like this

1. Apple brought the price down for the iPhone 5 with a 5% cashback + 0% EMI scheme (although if purchased with credit card)
2. Samsung moved to cover Apple's reduction with a similar 0% EMI scheme
3. Samsung further lowers price preparing for the aggressive launch of the S4 (rumored to be under 40k) by introducing the 0% EMI + 15% Cashback today
4. HTC responds..

All in all, this is now the time the market will churn with the S3 in the middle of it's life cycle and the S4 entering..

I believe that since Apple cut the price other makers felt the heat that people might stray towards apple since people "outside" this forum have a belief that if they are gonna pay a hefty sum then they need something like iPhone. We are not talking about features and screen size and all. Put that aside. Only talking about "brand".
Say if S3 and iPhone 5 are priced same, the general public might still prefer the iPhone and hence these price cuts.
Good for consumers though. Smartphone prices need to come down. They all are anyways ridiculously priced.

Thats right opinion and thats how market works, people prefer better constructed phone over plastic toy.

We are not getting in iPhone vs others fight here you see. I am just saying that Apple has created a "brand" for itself that people believe it is just better. I don't blame them.

ROTFL @Apple fanboys :D

Samsung s3 has already had enough price cuts even before this apple price cut
Htc price cut is primarily due to Htc one

Aluminium glass toys
You just expressed my thought... I was thinking, how come these people linking everything with apple... :( At least S3 undergone several price cuts after its launch and thinking apple is reason for that??????????? :banghead:

Jesus.. people these day's are so touchy.. i think we should have a case for estrogen hormone testing here..

I merely said or rather intended to imply (for the benefit of people who want to read too much into my statement) that the latest major price cuts simply appear to have been set rolling by Apple.

It's a known fact the iPhone 5 was quite expensive and at the same time didn't have the impact it was hoped to have on Apple's sale. With the S4 looming on the horizon along with all the latest droid flagships revealed late in Feb, Apple knew they had to cover the competition but still keep their "premium" tag.

So Apple reduced it in anticipation of the droid flagship launches here. In the meantime Samsung was reducing the S3's price in Feb/March itself to 38k and then some later iirc.. including up to their recent 31K odd pricing (This naturally offered much better spacing than a price of 38k did from the iPhone 5's new cost of 40k). Now the fact that the latest droid flagships are launched here has only prompted Samsung to reduce the price of the S3 and associated mid/upper range phones even more. So did HTC with their One X and X+ in reviewing the positioning vis a vis the ONE and the competition.. matching Samsung for the battle in the mid range.

At no point did i ever mention Apple was the "Reason" for all this. Samsung's price cuts were both in relation to the EMI plan of Apple as well as their own S4 spacing and fellow droid competition mapping. Simple.

Feel free to get panties twisted again if this didn't make sense to any fanboys here... Apple or Droid.

And yea i love glass toys better than plastic .... just for the record :p

agree with mach9 here, i think u guys r lookin too much into his post, all the prices drops are just cuz their flagship devices are being launched, the one & S4 in this case. Apple has had a tough time keeping up with android everywhere, even T mobile is offering 0$ replacements for older 4/4S users in the states. I think the mindset of younger generation has changed now, carrying a premium android handset is viewed just the same as a iphone 5 .. all boils down to what price u paid for the handset.. lol the plastic argument is being overdone, sony Xperia z is glass on both sides / the htc one is a all out aluminium device, the S4 .. blame the plastic, but the previous phone has broken sales all over. i think its time we forget that argument on the whole. iPhone will have a tough time keeping up with the android pricing and its gonna show in the long run.. this is just my view.. u dont haveto agree :D

one problem with samsung reporting the sales no. is this,

they report no.of unit shipped out of factory and not no.of units which went in consumer's hand.

Is that real statistic?

if its out the factory its being sold, in either gray markets or retail shops, or we would see stocks of S3 boxes lying in stores everywhere. in my building itself i know of atleast 5/6 people who own the s3. quite a few of my friends own the device aswell. so i think their statistic is based on sales / since its a sale if shipped out the factory .. Apple on the other hand cancelled orders for the chips n screens that it had ordered for the 5 as it wasnt expecting such low sales. The phone market is a tough one for sure.

Any market which has more choices than one can comprehend will be tough and mobile is one of them. It will probably just take one established manufacturer to change the trend on pricing.
If a popular manufacturer starts pricing their goods for less then other might follow suit.

s3 vs one x+

one x + =
- more memory
- beats audio
- better screen
- same battery size
- great proc similar to s3
- much better build
- matte back for better grip
- great camera like s3

One X is available for 23K on ebay and One X+ for 27K . Thinking about buying OneX+ instead of Nexus 4 . Would that be a good idea? Nexus 4 = 23-27k

one x is already eol and doesnt make sense to buy at this point.[DOUBLEPOST=1365930703][/DOUBLEPOST]both are based on nvidia tegra and I am sure you will regret it later.
