HTC's Windows Phone 8 (WP8) lineup, which includes the flagship HTC 8X and the mid range HTC 8S are set to get launched internationally on the 20th of November, 2012. Let's see what these devices pack.

HTC 8X

The HTC 8X (analogous to the HTC One X for Android OS) is HTC's WP8 based flagship smartphone, and it proves that it indeed is flagship material. Packing the best of the best, including a 4.3" HD SLCD2 display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset, this WP8 powered handset leaves nothing behind and is expected to be the cheaper of the flagship WP8 smartphones that will launch.
HTC 8X Specifications:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960
  • 1.5 GHz Dual Core Krait CPU
  • Adreno 225 GPU
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 4.3" HD(1280x720) S-LCD2 display
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 2
  • 16 GB of internal storage, no external SD card slot
  • 8 MP auto focus camera, LED flash
  • 1080p video @ 30fps
  • 2.1 MP front facing camera, 1080p video
  • 10.1 mm thick, 130 grams weight
  • 1800 mAh Li-Ion battery
  • Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS

The dual core Snapdragon S4 should easily power through the extremely well optimized Microsoft Windows Mobile OS. The powerful GPU will enable better XBox Live gaming (new titles). The HTC 8X is expected to launch for around $599-$699 globally.

HTC 8S

The HTC 8S is HTC's cheaper and budget oriented (read, mid ranger) WP8 smartphone. It follows suit to the usual Microsoft instructed specifications for cheaper, mid range WP8 smartphones. The 8S is wider than the HTC 8X (looks) thanks to a WVGA display resolution instead of a 16:9 widescreen HD display on the HTC 8X. Let's see what it packs under the hood.
HTC 8S Full Specifications:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8227/8627
  • 1 GHz Dual Core Krait CPU
  • Adreno 305 GPU
  • 512 MB of RAM
  • 4.0" WVGA(800x480) S-LCD display
  • 4 GB of internal storage, external micro SD card slot
  • 5 MP auto focus camera, LED flash
  • 720p video @ 30fps
  • 10.3 mm thick, 113 grams weight
  • 1700 mAh Li-Po battery
  • Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS

The specifications of the HTC 8S make it plenty apparent that the device is indeed a mid range smartphone. Nevertheless, the CPU is still a Snapdragon S4 Krait. We see an entirely new Adreno 305 GPU, whose performance levels are unknown. The HTC 8S will launch with a very affordable price tag of just $390.
