Nicely captured in cameras

Apparently, at about 09:30 local time, a very big meteor burned up over Chelyabinsk, a city in Russia just east of the Ural mountains, and about 1500 kilometers east of Moscow. The fireball was incredibly bright, rivaling the Sun! There was a pretty big sonic boom from the fireball, which set off car alarms and shattered windows. I’m seeing some reports of many people injured (by shattered glass blown out by the shock wave). I’m also seeing reports that some pieces have fallen to the ground, but again as I write this those are unconfirmed.

Note: This is almost certainly unrelated to the asteroid 2012 DA14 that will pass on Friday. See below for details.

i wish i lived where these rocks have fallen, would love to hoard all the space-rocks(and then deny their existence when the men in black start visiting me :bleh:).

It would have been good if it had hit a non populated area and created a crater

Our bollywood fellas will make a song over there

Looks like it created craters

And a Russian MP blaming US for this A new type of weapons testing by US

the shockwave sound in one of the videos in the source link is so loud and sudden!! :O

There's 2 more vids in the source. The sound is so loud even if you're prepared to hear it you shudder.

Poor human race..

NASA & bla bla spends tonnes of money on sending somethng to sky but there is no solution which can blast such rocks in space before it enters earth.

^ err, those rocks in space travel at 100's of km per second irrespective of their size.
Look at this video of the asteroid 2012 DA14. Its around the size of a swimming pool. Look at the distance it covers in one second. Then imagine the speed at which its going. If something like that was on a direct collision towards earth, it would wipe out an entire city the size of mumbai in seconds.
