Huge price diff bwteen Mumbai & Delhi. Why?

Hi,

Was just reading member posts and the prices that they get in Mumbai and Delhi and found that LCD Tvs are much cheaper in North Indian as compared to Mumbai.

e.g . on CI Samsung 40A550 best price in Delhi is 59k whereas in Mumbai it is 67k.

Why is there such a huge price diff ?

Yeah man... tell me about it... I am seriously thinking of getting it from chandigarh... but how do I ship it to Pune?

If you ship a brand new electronic product from outside the town to pune, you will still have to pay the Octroi, unless you hide it from the shipping company or the government.
Talk to DHL and some local store from chandigarh about how it can be managed

true but not always, in the grey markets lcds are cheaper in chennai ,then bangalore.since most of the lcds come from thailand ,malaysia.sony tvs are mostly brought from thailand.and they get lcds via flight since the lcd boxes have stickers which says there origin,destination etc.

also notice that cars ,fuel are also more expensive in mumbai,bangalore then delhi or chennai.

Biggest reason might just be- LG & Samsung plants both are near Delhi, and dealers in Delhi MANAGE better billing prices from the Companies. Also Big Delhi dealers in Patel Nagar, Sarojani Nagar Etc Etc are very aggressive in their pricing and work on low margins and high volumes. Of course the Octroi in Mumbai takes away a lot of your hard earned money to pay fat cat Mumbai Corporation Babus ( who like all Babus of India just warm up their behinds on our money!!)
