well i applied for 500C....

I havent used net at home for anbt a year..last one was cable...

this is totally new....

i have another thing to ask....

in torrent clients... i checked a port and its not open..what to do?

Hi All..

I tried to port forward....

I have 3 issues

1. I had same DNS nos for the Prefered and Alternate DNS servers..so i called up the BSNL guy and he told me although the 500C users are not given the static IP and i have no need for it.. but he did gave me 2 different IP's....

so i am using them..any issues?

2. I tried creating a static IP and then tried to log in with the IP address ion my web browser..

which IP i have to give... the static one??...or the one i get from ipconfg ..

i use both and it shows load error....so i used one my frn told me..the one that ends with .1.1. ..

it worked and i chenged the NAT settings..added a port..

3. I gave the port given in the utorrent itself... buton checking..even afer all this..its stil closed...

my frnd told me to give IP to the DMZ host..i gave my static IP there...no use...

and i used different port id this time...

is ther anyway i can see which plan i am on???..i applied for the 500C+ ..but even the guy who came to install dunoo...

It will take some time for your details to be updated. I mean the usage details. Call up BSNL CC and ask for your portal id. Then you can check your usage. It will usually take 3-4 days.

Check your lines and eliminate as many joints as possible.... use the splitter and connect the telephone only after the splitter.... check modem stats for the line stats and post them...that could help pinpoint the problem.....regarding your plan, call BSNL Customer care, and tell them to give you your ID for usage check online...it's a different ID and PW combination....you may go to Dataone WebMail to check your plan type and usage.

What's the SNR ?

Get your connections right with the splitter that came with the Modem.

Even I had same issues initially as i connected in hurry. Then i fixed all connections..!!

Also if SNR is low, call them up and tell them to fix it. The local bsnl guys.

I get connected at 8Mbps. And get download speeds for 235 kBps. During free hours. From what i have noticed in Free Download Managers.

But torrent speed suck. Get around 100kBps in uTorrent. I think its coz of Vista.

Nah man... i just wanted to tell that its the correct speed :D...

whats the SNR thing and hows it so important??

and how can i automate the downlaod..i am using utorrent..

SNR = signal to noise ratio. Effectively the strength of the electrical signal. To weak, and you might suffer reduced speeds
