I Hate This..

I really do.. too many choices too many decisions.. naa.. its not about u guys nor is it about anyone i know.. its about me. my worst enemy.. me.. thats right i hate myself.. this shud've gone in my blog, but since i dont blog i am ranting here..

It all started when a good friend of mine told me he's visiting.. from u-guessed-it-right.. the US of A. I came up with a plan of all the i33t stuff i wanted for him to get me.. my budget was 20k (from my old rig n yet-to-be-sold card) or roughly about $450. Too bad my friend cudnt afford that much.. (i hope he didnt faint hearing my budget.. hehe).. he gave me a limit of $200-300. To be on the safer side I restricted myself to a $200 budget with a 6600GT. Then came along another friend who said he could arrange for stuff to be delivered to my friend.. boy was I delighted!!! my evil mind started working out the various combinations.. since i had a initial budget of $450, to the 6600GT i added a MX518, a mouse pad and 1gig OCZ VX Value RAM - all this for roughly about $450. I was so tempted to get the DFI nF4 U but better sense prevailed n i backed off.. ( i already had a A8N-E by then)..

then came along ppl who seriously n very strongly asked me to re-consider my choices on the graphics card n RAM. i was strongly asked to get a X800XL (for such a wonderful card it is) n some uber RAM that runs at uber 2-2-2-5 timings. ofcourse thiers were good-will suggestions.. but little did i know what i was getting into then.. i said OK, what the heck, its not every day that u have the chance of getting stuff from abroad. so I 'upped' my budget to $500. with this i cud get a X800XL n some uber RAM. i had to scrap all my dreams of MX518 though. but it was OK. I got into researching then. the more i searched n researched, the more i was confused and the more i was lead into temptation!!! I didnt want any uber RAM anymore. I wanted THE absolute best! that lead to numerous questions to my many good friends (i am thankful for their patience n tolerance to my somewhat stupppid n obvious questions).. Often their words wud make me think about selling my 2 week old mobo and get the DFI nF4 U instead!!! again better sense prevailed, thankfully and i said a firm no (to the devil in me) to the DFI!

to cut the long story short I now want a $400 graphics card with some $300 RAM!!! :( so help me!! either by telling me why I am stupid :baby: (i know, but i wud like to hear from ya..) or by digging into your pockets for Mask-upgrade fund! i accept cash/cheque/DD et al :angel1:

Well it happens all the time whenevr upgrading is on the mind.....

Thts how i got my dfi tooo.......but am happy about it....but had to wait for a long time....

1st plans were to just jump on the 64-bit wagon wit a puny 2800+ & Asus K8N ......
while i was gonna buy.....started searching for the best mobo nd found the DFI nforce3 250GB..........so then decided why not...since am not gonna upgrade for a long time....(atleast i thot so )

Then came why not go for 939 as it was even future proof.......

then had to up my budget nd waited for that too......
days passed nd i didnt have nythng in my hand but a 3000+ nd Asus A8V on my mind.......harrased sme member's frm here on TA...thy can tell u tht
nd then again after sme searchin came to my mind the best mobo nd a new question

Why not the DFI nForce4 U-D??? ..........nd tht too wit no money in my hands....nd puny ram

but had setled for tht in my mind nd started saving.....
nd finally saw my neighbours leave their house for a few days nd robbed them instead

BTW this is goin to b a blog whr evry1's goin to b posting their stories about wht happens when they r on the path of upgrading..........;)

not likely.. VXs require more than 3V (typically 3.4V or more) for uber OCes. my mobo supports a max of 3V only. I think i'll have to settle with TCCDs if my budget permits..

Yep.. given the fact that there are many joining the l33t DFI nF4 Ultra band, fun days are here to come!! :hap2:

Hmmm, me too have my fairshare of doing upgrades :D
First I got a 9600Pro thinking it will satisfy my gaming needs - turned out I had blundered by getting it. Then I was thinking of buying a 6600GT and selling off the 9600Pro. After doing some research this time, all those number of pipelines/shaders/fill rate numbers etc were looming large in my mind and I finally ended up buying a 6800GT :D

Know how you feel.
Remember, I was the first around here to get an A64, nd it cost me 70K back then!!!!
No more!!!!
Then of course, I have bought a laptop, hdd, wireless router since then.
I deserve to be shot and dragged thru the streets for what I put my pop thru.

Hehehe, well almost the same story for me as far as GFX card is concerned...

i was the first to get a Prescott back then ;) little that i knew about it being preinstalled with a bunsen burner inside, lol.

my initial budget for the gfx card permitted me to go for a 9600 NP.. then my dealer got me a 9600 SE instead, so i waited and waited, then 9600 PRo was in the reach.. and then came the 9600 XT and i had decided to go for a 6600 GT even but at that time, it was 14.5k, then came this offer of 9800 pro from switch (yay!!) and i ended up with this card...

point of the matter is, am satisfied with the stuff i got and dont plan to upgrade atleast this year... ;)

And here is me...

I had a decent Rig
AMD XP 2400+/Msi K7N2 Dealta/ 256x2 DDR 333 and a Ti 4400

Then i was struck by the upgrade bug..

I eneded up buying a 9800 Pro... But that didnt satisfy me... I just blew off all my investments on a second rig which comprised of a ASUS A8V-E Dlx|Athlon 64 3200+ |6800 GT| 1 GB PC - 3200 |Samsung Dynaflat 19"| Powersafe 400 Watts PSU and 160+80 GB HDD... In the process i sold my 9800 Pro...

But then my trusty old Ti 4400 died on Me... I was struck and i eneded up buying a 6600GT for my second rig... And now with everybody jumping to A64 Platform i am now too thinking about selling my secong setup AMD XP 2400 | MSi Mobo | Ram Sticks and plaiing to add few moolah in that and up it to a AMD 64 Platform...

I am BAD and i know that...

mask , what card are you gettting for 400$ dunno if its worth paying so much for a vid card thats gonna be out of date in a year or so

get pdp ram :p probably not the best oc'er around but its a decent deal at 225

@ bottle,

he is just kidding about $400 card et el. he has already decided on the card its the ram (selection) which is getting his goat.:eek:hyeah: and my posting that link will only add fuel to the already simmering fire within masky;) . i know what he wants.and i have told him to wait for a few weeks to get some high quality, very high speed rams at low latencies , which are going to be introduced soon.

heheh.. yea. i kinda decided on X800XL after sound advise from many of u guys.. about the RAM i am still contemplating.. today morning i was sure i wanted the OCZ Platinum Rev 2s.. but today evening i am back to square one. i was thinking of volt-modding my mobo to higher Vdimms..

I am still soo confused..

yes.. and refurb ones start at $265 or so on newegg. and like you found out, my enthusiasm died too to see X800XL/XT AIWs were only AGP!!!

for a AGP solution, there is nothing to beat a Leadtek 6800GT @ $300 or a ATI AIW X800XL/XT @ $345~350!

yeah.. Chiefvalue is a tad cheaper.. prices for X800Xl start at $275 @ [rank=www.chiefvalue.com/app/productlist.asp?linkid=100&submit=search&description=X800XL]Chiefvalue[/rank] n $285 @ [rank=www2.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Manufactory=&PropertyCodeValue=679%3A14425&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=0&description=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&SubCategory=48&Submit=Property]Newegg[/rank].

The cheapest (purely moolah wise) is [rank=www2.newegg.com/product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814125174R&CMP=OTC-Froogle&ATT=GIGABYTE+GV-RX80L256V+Video+Card]Refurbished Gigabyte X800XL at newegg[/rank] at $263.20

not worth getting a refurb for just $20-30 less.. get a sapphire or such which is reliable
