I Phone Problem

My friend give me a I Phone as Deepavali Gift(from USA).I don't know much about I Phone.He advised me "Don't to anything with the Installer and Cydia Icons".It work fine for a day.Today the Keypad not working.Pl help me to resolve this problem.

And other issues are:
1)I cannot forward SMSs.
2)My old Phone was K750i.I cannot transfer the Songs,Videos and other things to my I Phone via Bluetooth.
3)My old SIM with Airtel Mobile Office is working fine with the Iphone(without doing anything in the settings).But in browsing(using Safari)the website and letters are very small to read.
4)The ringtone volume is very low.And i can use only the tones in the I Phone.
5)There is no software CD.How can I connect the phone with the PC?
6)Can i cannect the phone to my pc using the charger USB cable?
7)Can i use the phone as modem for my PC?
8)Major problem is the numeric keypad not working.

The phone is 8GB.But in settings it shows only 6.6GB.

You have to jailbreak and install biteSMS or iRealSMS(paid) to be able to do that

You cannot send files over bluetooth, you will have to use iTunes to transfer music/pictures/videos

use your fingers to pinch in/out to zoom in/out the webpage

4)The ringtone volume is very low.And i can use only the tones in the I Phone.
You can create tunes from any music file using itunes

5)There is no software CD.How can I connect the phone with the PC?
Again, install iTunes and then connect your phone

You have to jailbreak and install iPhoneModem or Netshare if you can find it

you mean to say that it can only dial emergency numbers :huh: that happens if the phone isn't activated

The phone is 8GB.But in settings it shows only 6.6GB.
Usable space with the OS loaded is 7.1GB and 200 odd mb are taken up by preinstalled apps and other stuff

Except for sending files over bluetooth most of the other restrictions put up by apple could be easily bypassed by jailbreaking

Cycorder to record videos
Intelliscreen to have a Today screen like on symbian or WinMo devices
Files to view MS Office and Pdf files
Snapture, which gives you a lot more features while taking pics

Doesnt Air Sharing read Office and pdf files as well ? Its currently free on the AppStore and one of the best free apps around :)
 
The phone is activated.But I cannot use the the keypad.whenever i touch the nos nothing happened.But i can add cantacts.The keypad in add condacts is working.
Now i cannot ring any no directly.First i save the no in the contact list then i ring the no.
Without the software Cd i cannot connect it to the Pc.Then how can i download the itunes.
My friend told me Don't touch the CYDIA and INSTALLER icons.Why?

It seems that your friend who unlocked this phone installed some apps which caused this problem. Do you have "Customize" or "Kate" icons on your iPhone ? or do you use themes on iPhone ?

Start cydia or installer and remove all apps that are installed. Then reboot the phone and try to see if it works. If it doesnt, then you will have to restore it from itunes and unlock the phone again.

Without the software Cd i cannot connect it to the Pc.Then how can i download the itunes.

Why do you need to connect iPhoen to PC to download itunes ? itunes is meant to be run on your computer.

They are used to install apps on a jailbroken phone. You can use it without any issues..I dont know why your friend said that!
 
Yeah like pat said the best solution is to install itunes on you computer then backup your phone, after that restore(not upgrade) to 2.1(this will wipe out the iphone contents and install 2.1 firmware) after that restore your backup and then jailbreak

Yeah airsharing is good too, but somehow it used to quit while opening large pdf files (this was before I upgraded to 2.1)

DareDevil - There could be N number of issues that is causing your problems and since you are new to iPhone it will be difficult to identify and resolve.

The best course of action for you is to update to 2.1 and start afresh so to speak. Now you have a lot of catching up to do regarding how to set up and use this thing properly and efficiently.

For detailed newbie friendly help and guidance please head to iclarified.com iPhone tutorials section. Upgrading to firmware version 2.1 should fix your issues. 2.0 is anyway unstable compared to 2.1 which is significantly improved.

And compared to other phones it pretty difficult to mess up, you can always restore and get it back to normal. I lost power on firmware upgrade which can be disastrous but recovered quite easily. So read up at iclarified and lose the doubts. Its 5 minutes work.
 
First step, start cydia -> Manage -> Packages.

Select each package one by one, then select Modify and then Remove. Do this for all apps. After that, reboot your iPhone. If this does not work, you have to restore/jailbreak/unlock again.
 
I Tunes downloaded to my PC and songs and Videos are uploaded to my IPhone.

But after that all the games and a Tamil Calender Appn(TamilD Lite)in my phone are not working.
