Hi friends,
i got a very antique pc ... n i want to upgrade it...
can u guys plz recomend me sum nice configs..
i got a 17" monitor.. samsung 753s so i dont think i wil lb needing a new one as its working fine..

oki my budget is <50k..

my main use of the pc wil b practicing my prog, networking, playing games and most of all listen to music..[so a good sound card will b gr8 i think so....]

my friend x86 suggested me this config... i wud love more suggestions..

"i suggest u create a diff new thread for this but i'll suggest for you to go for a conroe 6300 + asus mobo combo with 2 gb ddr2 ram and buy a second hand gfx card and wait a while while the dx 10 card comes.

u'll get a very good setup well within 40k excluding monitor since u have a good 17 inch one."

Conroe 6300 + Asus 975 = 18K approx

512 x 2 GB DDR2 = 4K to 5K coz for use 2Gb is an overkill but its ur own money.

PSU + Cabbie = 4K to 8k (Depends on your choice) For PSU u can buy Powersafe 500W or more or get Antec NeoHe 500 depending on ur graphics card and oc.

Sound card dont have much idea but 2K is fine.

Keyboard + mouce = 2K (gaming)

HDD 80GB = 2.2K

DVD writer = 2.2K

Total = 35K to 40K

Rest Graphics Card.

PSU = SMPS = Power Supply Unit = Switched Mode Power Supply - This supplies the power to ur rig.

Your power requirement depends on whether u OC or not and no. of HDD etc and ur Graphics card.

Cabbie = Cabinet = where u stuff all ur computer hardware except Moniter & Keyboard and mouse.

2GB of Ram is over kill for ur use. But wait for other members to pour in their views.

oh..

got it thanks..

n i may hav said limited use of my pc cos i myself dont know how hard m gonna use it.. lolz..

well actually i wanna hav the best config i can at that budget ..

Its not how hard. See RAM is basically needed for highend jobs, like hosting volume servers, running many virtual OSes, or high end graphic work, encoding etc etc.

For programming and a bit of gaming 1GB is more than enough.

You have decent budget. Get urself a good graphics card. Also u can get a bigger HDD if your need is that. Think and adjust the components according to use.

hmmmm well i think u r right..

to come to think of it i wont b doing so high lvl stuffs right now as i m studying all dat.. so if i can adjust dat in hdd or graphics card it will b more benificial to me na???

good idea man thx again :P

mobo=motherboard-the thing which acts like the chasis of a vehicle literally evrything in a comp depend on it for their evry need like data and power.

Conroe is a Intel processor model which was launched recently.

I mostly agree with the above config, just get a 7600 GS for arnd 7k (thats ur gfx card)
And if ur really interested in good sound, the Creative X-fi xtrememusic is available for 8-9k. That sound is head and shoulders above everything else...
Else a creative audigy can be had for under 2k.

You did not mention anything about speakers, if you dont have decent speakers, Altec Lansing ATP-3 is the minimum you shld be looking at (around 2.5k i think, not sure). Or Altec Lansing MX-5021 (arnd 7.5k)

sumeet next time we meet i'll throw ur mercury speakers.
seriously i say buy mx5021 i'm buying one too... :).

I think your config should be something like this...
Intel conroe 6300 + Asus 975x arnd 18k.
320 gig hard drive since u wanna store ahem some music for 5.5k.
Psu Antec neo he for 6.5k. [including shipping]
Cabinet i'd suggest the zebby one around 3k.
a dvd rw Lg h10n 2000 bucks.
Ram 1 gig arnd 5k.
so 18 + 5.5 + 6.5 + 3 + 2 + 5 = 40k.
Now get urself a good soundcard if your seriously interested i might sell my brand new x-fi plat when it comes back from rma for 7 to 8k.
else get a mx5021 arnd 7k + sound card 3k = 10k.
bom 50k gone. now what u need to decide is on the gfx card .. see dx 10 is on the horizon so whatever u buy u have to upgrade within a year or so.
i'd say get a 7600gt atleast.. guys he'll be gaming fear oblivion at fullest he shud go for 7600gt.
it'll be well around 60k.
you can tu down ur cost cutting down ur Hard disk and PSU and sound card.
but i'll highly suggest you to buy this HDD and PSU. sound card look at TEs market some good deals r out there.
and btw its me wholl get u the neo he and cabbies and stuffs isnt tht rt sumeet ;) :P

Pick up my 6800GT PCI-e for yer GFX, it's a great deal :P

Btw, won't the Audigy 2ZS Or the SB Live! 24 bit serve his purpose of "Good Sound Output" rather than spending 8K or something on the X-Fi PLAT?

And yeah, I'd suggest atleast 250GIG's of HDD Space.

hi,

I suggest the following rig:

Intel Conroe E6300 + Asrock 975 mobo = 14k

2 gb ddr2 ram (1gb*2)= 9k

Seagate 250 SATA II NCQ = 4k

Nvidia XFX/BIG/Leadtek 7600gt -11K

Creative Audigy 2 value - 2K

DVD RW- 2.5K

Cabinet- 1-1.5K

PSU Antec SP500- 4K

KB + mouse - 1-2K

Altec Lansing ATP-3 (atleast) -2.5 K or Altec Lansing 5021 - 7-8K

Microtek 800 VA UPS - 2K

So with ATP-3 the rig fits within the budget

But go for 5021 if can shell out the extra moolah!!

Or consider this AMD based rig

AMD X2 3800 and a DFI nForce 4 ultra non SLI - 14-15K

2 gb ddr ram (1gb*2)= 8k

Seagate 250 SATA II NCQ = 4k

Nvidia XFX/BIG/Leadtek 7600gt -11K

Creative Audigy 2 value - 2K

DVD RW- 2.5K

Cabinet- 1-1.5K

PSU Antec SP500- 4K

KB + mouse - 1-2K

Altec Lansing ATP-3 (atleast) -2.5 K or Altec Lansing 5021 - 7-8K

Microtek 800 VA UPS - 2K

So with ATP-3 the rig fits within the budget

But go for 5021 if can shell out the extra moolah!!

hey thx for all ur configs guys..
but i was wondering over one thing..
the parts which i import... how will i get the services ?
like if it stops working or sumthing den who will fix it ??

yups^^ and once u buy the stuffs ;lets say the PSU u'll have to send the money fiorst to a address which i'll tell u and u'll get ur stuff within a week.
thats how it works.
get a conroe based rig :P.
