a Lenovo Netbokk or a Dell Netbook with a Ram upgrade is what you need

Please check up before posting :P The dell isnt launched in India yet and the lenevo is hideously priced as compared to the Acer for the same specs. It costs almost as much as the Asus 1000H with only a small 3 cell battery.

I thought the Asus 1000H came only with 6-cell battery?

you sure abt the above ?

@broar: errr....english syntax confusion :P I meant that the Lenovo costs as much as the Asus but "the lenovo" comes with only a small 3 cell battery for the same price as the Asus.

@Dinesh: Well, the Dell India site still doesn't show it. So if its been launched but they haven't put it yup there then thats possible :P

If you can live with 10 inch screen, nothing beats ASUS 1000H as many have suggested. But if you want bigger screen, Acer Aspire 5315 is a good option, if you want to do normal word processing, movies, surf-the-net routine. Beware, though it has a Celeron processor. I had a demo of 5315 recently for 5-10, and it didn't feel slow for normal operations. It will approx. cost 25K.

You could wait for the newer version of 10" asus.. it comes with 20GB SSD :) but hasnt been launched in India as ye but available in singapore/elsewhere..

I played around with a friend's Msi wind last night for some time and would strongly recommend it over other netbooks (I own an Asus 901)

Pros: brilliant screen, good build quality

Cons: Iffy touchpad, keyboard a lil' too stiff

hey can we upgrade the ram on EEE PC or Acer One or MSI Wind??

Among these which would u guys recommend...

My uses will be..

1. Movies.. maybe 1080p.. but 720p are a must... screen will be a large display..--> Not a big must.. i will watch ordinary rips..

2. browsing..

3. Office suite..

4. Development IDE's like VS

5. Downloading.. so a high uptime is a must... maybe 24*7 ...

or a Dell vostro 14" is enuff for this??

@jerin: U can up the RAM to 2Gb, though you might need to remove the existing 1Gb stick.

I got a quote for the Wind too: 21.5k + 4% VAT, picked up an Asus E1000H for 20.9k :D Seems Asus gave a 25% off or some such offer to dealers for 2 pieces only. So managed to get my dealer to pass on some of that discount ;)

@broar: Unless ur needs are high mobility and rough use, the 160Gb HDD is preferable to a 20Gb SSD :)
