Hi you all hommie,

i plan to upgrade to Direct X10 preferably Nvidia Geforce 8600GTS OC

i currently have configuration according to my SIG

i got AGP mobo for Socket AM2 and i think i have to undergo Mobo change :bleh:
Suggest some best overclockable mobo for socket AM2 (SLi or non SLi will do)

Lol...u first got the AGP mobo cause of AGP card...hehe

If you can find the mainboards go in the following order

Biostar TA690G

Gigabye S3 (not the S2 which AFAIK is the only model available right now, that might change tho)

Jetway 690G
 
@NV, yep the 8800GTS will cost 18-19k in India.

what about 8600GTS? i meant to ask price for 8600GTS. sorry .

can some1 post the mobo prices too? cause i need to buy new mobo and also i have to see if it fits my budget. if i already had PCIEx mobo, i cud have opted for 8800GTS

8600GTS = 12k min & not worth it

better spend 6k more for 8800GTS 320MB
 
you wanna spend 12k on a low-end 8600GTS ? forget it man . why don't you just wait, Monalac?

EDIT: sry I called 8600GT/GTS low-end :P . its quite medium-end. but real performance will be judged on DX10 perf. Monalac , get 8600GT from the US its only 150$ , nearly half the price of what you'd get here.

Why pay 9K when you are going to regret your purchase one year down the line?
 
forget the 8600GTS man, your choice should either be the 8600GT for 9k or 8800GTS 320 for 18k

the 8600GTS costs somewhere around 14k and is just not worth the extra dough you put in it compared to the 8600GT

Mobo Prices : (approx)

Biostar NV 7050 : 4700

Biostar TA690G : 4850

Jetway 690G : 3300
 
yup these guys are right.......if u are planning ur card to run the future dx10 games at least at med settings, at least go for the 8800gts.....if not, get the 8600gt and OC it......
 
But GTS just doesn't give any VFM IMO.

One can always get a GT and OC it till it suits his fancy to sell it off and get a 8800 or a 9600 something

When u were getting your AM2 setup, i must have told u at least 100 times to buy a PCIe mobo.
But you were 'oh so happy' with your 6600GT agp, especially coz u had some uber Vantec cooler on it.
For that reason i even said sell your agp and get a 6600GT PCIe for around the same price.
I had also said if you wished a slight upgrade, then get the 6800GT that SP was selling at a decent price.

But you still go ahead and buy a agp AM2 mobo- what a dumbass.:rofl:
This was especially after many others said teh same to you.
No i know why almost everyone has you blocked on IM.

Normally i have my foot in my mouth but in tyour case i wish it was in your 'xyy'.:cool2:

Hmm. :) no problems. i tried selling my AGP before buying system. no one was ready to buy. :) block me :) ive got other better things to do then chat with you all. we are better chatting on TE and i dont care about IMs :)
 
Bikey, i trusted you a lot and you broke my trust by flaming me. go on buddy :) i am blockign each and every TEites on my IMs. i have better things to do and i have other great friends who understand me :)
 
anyways we are off topic. please suggest me which GPU brand to go for? i shall order from US as my aunt and my cousins coming from US in august. if price reduces in july month (price cuts expected), ill buy 8800GTX :)

PS:Continue flaming. I didnt go PCIe cause my dad is strict though and wont let me buy new GPU cause i bought it in mid 06. i had 30K to spare that time, i cancelled dual display of 19" monitors TFT and 500gig hdd with GPU. damn. u ppl dont understand my problems and you all flame me. ever cared to ask me why did u go AGP? and well i dont care about TE and TEians. i just care for replies/advices i get. i dont care what ppl think about me :) My dad told me 1 sentence which touched my life and forced me to cancel upgrade plans.. he told me "Beta, ii know you are computer freak so i let you upgrade by ur own money u earned. ive given you everything you wanted, i never gave u anything in the form of gifts and you got what u wanted in ur life. Let me try to give you gift this time, join MBA course and i will give you a PC which is out of ur imagination. Whatever you are using is shit right now. i am ready to spend anyting you want on but join MBA course" the word GIFT touched me.

that's the reason u gave me monalac- don't u lie now.

Since u said its ok with all the games u play , then why upgrade, i said buy a 6600GT PCIe so that in case u upgrade, you won't have an issue.

a year or 2 year old 6600GT agp for 5.5k.:O

I even pointed it out that it wouldn't sell at that price and u said you were doing timepass as u weren't keen on selling it but wouldn't mind if you got that much - then you wouldnt have to put anything for the 6800GT.

With the 2900 not showing much teeth yet, it's quite unlikely- get a 8800GTS640 instead and it's mor than enough for most.

In fact i told u dump the dual display thing- get one decent display and spend it on betterring teh basic config.

And you value the temporary gift more than the MBA that will unfold so much more in the future.:P

Edit: Forgot the Brand- try for the regular or SuperClocked EVGA model.

Else check for super saver deals on naya anda and get one that suits u best- though i would sticjk to the more famous brands for a lil reliability as you wouldnt have warranty here.
