iBall has just launched their new Andi 4.5h. The Andi 4.5h is a new generation of budget Android smartphones, basically because it now incorporates the updated standard specifications which include 1 GB of RAM, a welcome addition. What we're still looking for is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Oh well, you can't have it all for such a budget price. Read on to know more about this device.
iBall Andi 4.5h

iBall's Android devices haven't exactly been top class, or received well in the market. They don't have the right marketing and reach, and the devices too aren't exactly world class (or near that term). However, the Andi 4.5h seems to be a solid device which could potentially end up as a very nice mid range purchase.
iBall Andi 4.5h Specifications

  • Mediatek MTK6577 chipset
  • 1 GHz dual core ARM Cortex A9 CPU
  • PowerVR SGX531 GPU
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 4.5" qHD (960*540) IPS capacitive display
  • 4 GB of internal storage, expandable upto 32 GB
  • 8 MP rear camera, auto focus and LED flash
  • 720p video recording @ 30 fps
  • VGA front facing camera for video calls
  • 1600 mAh battery
  • Android 4.0.4 ICS

The device packs the now standard dual core Mediatek chipset. 1 GB of RAM is a welcome inclusion and it should make operations smoother on Android 4.0 ICS in the long run. A nice 4.5" qHD display of IPS make adorns the front of this device. 4 GB internal storage is decent, with expandable upto 32 GB via micro SD card slot.

On the multimedia front, we have an 8 MP camera sensor with LED flash for low light photos. Video calling can be done over 3G as well using the front facing camera. We do wish it was of higher rating than VGA.

The battery is particularly paltry at just 1600 mAh. For a big screened device, that battery is going to fall short. Expect less than a day's usage on single charge (and following average usage patterns). Additionally, we wish the OS is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as that has become the norm (from companies like Zopo).
Pricing

This device will sell for Rs. 13,000. For Rs. 13,999 you can have the Zopo ZP900 Leader, which has better specifications, larger display (for those who want) and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Not to mention, a much larger battery. If phablet is what yo're looking for, go for the Zopo ZP900.
