Hey,

As the title suggests we'll be picking up a DELL laptop from US.

Why from US ??
> Better Configuration
> Better Rates
> Better Discounts
> Better Value for Money

Warranty ??
> DELL warranties are transferable.

Any Deals ??
>Scouting now-a-days.

Shipment ??
>Through KMD.

Payment ??
> Anyone can collect the money and pay to KMD (Need to confirm with KMD)

Now, as a group we can scout for better deals, better rates from KMD, Better value for money products :)

1+1 = 11 (In Indian terminology :P) is always better !!

What say guys ?? Can this GO fly or will crash in hanger only
Cheers

i am in for sure, but i guess the new centrino2 chips are not installed as yet in the studio ones there as of now. and im guessing if we make high end ones then only it might make sense orelse same price here and there. i am very close to where KMD stays. please keep me updated. im lusting for a new lappie more than anything right now... was planning new HP 1015 with centrino2 and still am though i want dell cuz of colors

I honestly don't think this will work out. Even if you would like to save 20%, it would mean you have to find a deal which is 50% percent less the Indian price which is very very rare. A siginificant amount will go in shipping and customs. Even after that not many peeps would be willing to sacrifice indian warranty for a mere 20% off.

Due to this laptops don't have a grey market in India..

KMD=katmandude. Our resident dealer and a blessing if u want to source that hard to get in India stuff from the US with least hassles.

Good point raised mate !!

That's what i said, we'll collectivity lookout for a "Real DEAL" which should be at least 50% of the Indian cost. However for warranty, as a policy matter of dell warranty can be transferred

Transfer the Service Tag of your product
Use this form for the following reasons:

* Owner of product is moving from one country to a new country
* Ownership of a product has changed and new owner is located in a different country

Well, for me 20% is a huge amount (50K's 20% comes around 10K) that too with Indian warranty.

Cheers

From what i know, transfer of service tag is different from transfer of warranty.
For non-business laptops like the inspirons and studios (even the vostros), warranty for a laptop purchased in the US would be valid in India too, only if you've got a minimum of 3 yrs. warranty. Warranty for the xps line might be valid anywhere though.

This was the case till atleast an year ago, and i don't think things would have changed much :)

I agrre wit above ppl ..If we get a nice raw steal deal from KMD then we can hav a go ie. gettin @ less tahn 50% of indian prices.. els its the same ...:) :)

anyone getting the dell inspiron mini?

the mini is not out yet :)

+ this isnt gonna work ppl, getting th elaptop through KMD + shipping + taxes etc will hardly make much of a diff from Indian prices.

Good going Guys, i can see a good response to the IC if we can get a good deal. So start using your links and lookout for a DEAL !!

Cheers

Can I get a Dell Laptop from US too? :yahoo: Amarbir, post in ur quotes too and well see what happens as KMD isn't responding,PMed him 2 days ago.
If a Dell Laptop from US is possible then please lemme know cause my most favored brand is Dell.

I think KMD will charge around 8-9,000 for each laptop, I have received a quote before when I wanted a notebook from him.

But it all depends on how less he can go on bulks.

This isn't gfx card or bluetooth, its ****in huge laptop.
