This is an interest check with respect to varkey's thread. Since the Go Flex home enclosures that he ships are bare and without any enclosures for the HDDs, wanted to see how many would be interested in buying one of these. The total odd for all should come to 3.5k shipped to Mumbai. So about 700 per piece and extra shipping to location of your choice.

1)I did not understand the Varkey connection here. What he is selling seems to be a diff device/product in all. Do explain if I have misunderstood.
2) This one does not come with any cables/power adapter. Also It seems that this one is only a HDD cover rather than a a NAS solution.
Kindly explain how this can be used as a NAS and what all would be needed additionally.
Also If I use this as a HDD casing how do I connect it to my laptop? If it can be then I may be interested.
Got a couple of 320GB lying around.

Actually varkey selling only the Goflex NAS without the HDD. So if you have a HDD but it cant rest peacefully and a enclosure does finish to product complete

I asked both @varkey and @SoulFire. Both said the total cost would come close to ~3.3/3.5k in all

In case I do get it cheaper, would be splitting the cost even down.

asuming no 1 tb hdd comes for less than 5k today ,you'll get the base for just 2k.
the beauty of this deal is that it comes with transmition installed.
all you have to do is switch it on using ssh and you are in business :)
croma delivered mine in ONE day , & it works like a charm.
IMO its far better than collecting stuff from everywhere and assemble a downloader which costs more than this.
Although changing the conig file will void your warrenty, i don't think any one will notice that & warranty would be a solid go ;)

Well, although the base will come for 2500 + enclosure for about 700 more, for those who have their own hard disks? Its a solid buy for them :)
 
I am interested for 1, I have base from Varkey running smoothley with 500gb internal sata.
Please update me once you get sufficient number of people. I am from mumbai.
