last week i bought a 500gb seagate hdd from sp road,bangalore for 3.1k ... so these prices seem bit high..will visit sp road this sunday and check if prices have increased

The dollar isn't coming down anytime soon.. there has been so much dollar buying on the currency market, it precludes any quick reductions. All the dealers have cottoned on to this, and have raised prices accordingly. WD and Seagate 1TB prices in Mumbai are 6800 and 6900 respectively. IMHO, the sweet spot right now is 750GB - they're being quoted at 5300/5400, depending on the direction of the wind.

wat abt WD 640 as it is avail for ~3.5 also seagate 500 for 2,8 i think its a much much better deal
