ID proofs to be submitted for VPS ?

Hello TE,

I just came across something new today. I wanted to buy a VPS in India with the view of testing a game server.
Almost every host is saying that ID proof and Address proof is mandatory as per TRAI just like SIM card.

Their statement is like this " Sir, Just like a SIM card we give you an IP. So we need proofs"

I have 2 VPS abroad earlier and never encountered such a requirement.

I asked them for the government document which asks for these. In return they have given me the following file.

As per TRAI and Indian GOVT rule you need to provide documents, because you will be using server with IP address and it is very mandatory.

Yes, You need to provide some ID proof.
Generally if i go and buy a server at hetzner or from someone.. They will ask for passport copy.
Legitimate websites need not to worry about this.

* For VPS.. Most of them don't ask!.. Who's that provider btw?

Yes lol. I have taken a one month package to see how they are . Lol they did not even setup the vps yet.

The thing is to run a public server we need money. I am the only one who earns rest all are in college. So going for the cheap options. We already have a slot with them that running TF2 so going with them.
