Ideal os for headless Music Pc?

Hello!

Looking to setup an old pc as an internet radio player, headless and controlled from a XP based system..

looking for any pointers for what os I should choose..
Basically looking at an hibernate>open player and play particular channel and when hibernate again when switched off..

I use XP pro for exactly the same purpose. I just connect over TS using my laptop over Wifi when playing music. Has worked like a charm for the last 2 years. The biggest advantage I have is that I can use the best possible audio hardware on the desktop and still have the convenience of a laptop.

Also this machine is never turned off in my case as its my download box too.
 
hmm..

Could I use like an nlited version of Xp? cause all my music would be stored on a NAS, so want to make the system as tiny as possible cause I plan to get a NMT/Streamer type device later on...

Ps: what is TS?
