All right so I've done a fair amount of reading. So far the two methods to root seem to be z4root and superoneclick.
z4root seems far simpler and the latest release (1.3.0) supports motorola defy. I downloaded it from here : [APP] z4root - xda-developers. I've downloaded the apk and installed it. But I'm still scared to hit the permanent root button
.
If it helps: I bought the defy on letsbuy.com (no motoblur, FW 2.1). When I go to settings->about phone it says firmware version is 2.1-update1 and system version is moto_version.2.59.0.MB525.Retail.en.SEA15
After I root installing custom roms should be simple enough using rom manager, right? Or do I need to follow any complicated tutorials?
Thanks a lot in advance.
