Guys suggest a free software which can help convert all images to beautiful videos with background music and individual effects to each and every images.

A friend needs it for a media presentation and a project.

He wants to create a stunning slideshow with some images which can then be exported as .avi video file.

Tried window movie maker but it only satisfies 75% requirement. It lacks individual effects to the images like fading, dissolve etc.

Ok but win xps movie maker wont run on 7 I guess. I made him download win 7 movie maker but as said it lacks certain functions.

He wants to make a Showreel out of his Digital art hence on a lookout for a descent tool.

You can try running it in compatibility mode.

And there is virtual pc built into win 7.

Search on cnet... There are lots of free video editors that can work with individual pictures.

If can get your hands on mac system, Final Cut X pro is perfectly suited. I have used it myself and it is really easy to use.

His work is on CS p'shop and illustrator. He got no good knowledge of Adobe after effects still he did tried on and the video was a whooping 12gb avi .file for just a 2 min video.

And the one he tried in windows movie maker and some 3rd party tool, it went only upto 60mb with 720hd quality.

So its truly shocking that Adobe after effects produces videos in GBs.

@nRiTeCh With After Effects, choose a different codec & quality settings before rendering to bring the file size down. By default, it is set to lossless. Alternatively, he can always take the large file & re-encode it with x264. The file size will come right down.

Just be sure to choose a codec that will run on most systems (if burning to cd) or compatible* with most video hosting websites.
*aka minimal conversion/compression by the site.

- If you don't want to deal with AE, maybe PowerPoint is what you need-

- Have you tried Windows Media Center?

- As for Windows Movie Maker, iinm, for Windows 7 & 8, what you are looking for is Windows Live Movie Maker.

- Youtube itself is another option
