Based on the feedback we have received over the last few hours we are making the following changes and issuing some clarification regarding some of the issues raised. Everyone please note that the following has been discussed at length in between staff and the decisions taken are final.
1) There has been much made out and written about the inpost ads on TE. We have as you may have noticed put a divider line betweent he ads and the post contents. However the ads as such are not going to be removed. Google ads are content relevant ads and are meant to be shown where the content is to produce best results. Furthermore we do not feel that having 2 ads per page is excessive. Almost all international tech sites have even bigger and heavier ads compared to us. And these ads are here to stay. We won't entertain any threads and requests on this matter. However, since an interest to have an ad free site has been expressed by few members, we are going to launch TechEnclave Premium Services. Please see bottom of the announcement for details.
2) About FunEnclave.com, We have had complaints from members that we have split TE and such. I would like to make this very clear that FunEnclave is a site started by the TechEnclave Staff primarily seeing the demand for fun content on this site. However, FE is a independent new site and will remain an out and out fun site. Everything there will start afreash. We have imported our long time users of TechEnclave so that they don't have to re-register there but this was done for the sake of convenience only. No distinction will be made among any user on FE and everyone will start afresh there.
3) And I made this point in the announcement yesterday, i will reiterate it again, There is a reason why some of the content has been removed from TE. That reason being there was lots of spam and flame threads being posted here than tech content and this was leading to TE losing in SERPS(search engine rankings and our pr) Since TE is wholly advertised via google this was a serious issue and had to be tackled immediately so that our core focus is not lost. Apart from that members were complaining about extensive spamming and it was being made on the pretext of posting in off topic sections. Since TE is now fully focused on Technology Discussions, its our intention to clamp down on spamming. Henceforth TechEnclave will have ZERO Tolerance to spam/flaming as stated in the revised TE Rules. Users violating can face warnings/ban. TE staff will aggressively moderate the forums to avoid such content.
4) Since there has been a demand for an offtopic section where members can discuss offtopic issues like wishing birthdays and any general events, we have decided to open a new general section called General Talk. Please note that the section will have post counts disabled. Furthermore please note that it would be heavily moderated and no flaming or sensitive issues will be allowed which may lead to bad blood within the community. Mods will delete such threads outright with warnings issued to the offending person. Test drive section will be a subsection to this for testing purposes only. We will autoprune threads in testdrive every 3 days so that only testing is done in that section.
With the above changes we hope we have put to rest almost all major issues that you may have had with the present upgrade, specifically about FE and porting content there.
