Importing diecasts from Hong Kong

Does anyone have any experience with importing diecasts into India? I'm planning to import a MiniGT from a Hong Kong based retailer called rcMart, and they seem to be reliable (according to r/Diecast at least) but I'd like to know if there's a chance I'll get slapped with unexpected Customs and duty, because the retailer states that they do not handle Customs charges. Is there anything else I should be wary about as well? Just trying to know as much as possible because this is a very new thing for me.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers!

Yeah, there's a freight forwarder I'm currently trying out called delivo (they go by some other names as well). Heard about them on r/repfamindia. Whatsapp group link is somewhere on the comments of that thread
Currently doing 1 shipment of sneakers with them and will see how it goes but I feel good about them. They have a hong kong warehouse as well. From what I heard they do deliver on what they promise, so they handle customs on their side. Rate is on the cheaper side at 1550/kg compared to alternatives like shopnship etc (and those don't deal with clearances or the like)

Aside from that, I believe most of the mech kb community usually get their shipments through yanwen express? Even I got most of my IEM packages from HK via yanwen. Then that would get handled by global morning logistics for clearance (the one that a few people here and on reddit thought was a scam). Those also came without customs. If the retailer you're purchasing from can use yanwen express then that would be perfect.

This sounds good but at ₹1,550/kg wouldn't it be cheaper for me to take my chances with the customs cost itself (cost + shipping of the item comes to $24.49)? I read on r/HotWheelsIndia that someone ordered from this site and they didn't have to pay customs at all, I was just looking for more insights on this situation. Are there any other advantages to services like Delivo for my particular situation? Is the full customs cost covered in the ₹1,550?

As for who they use for shipping, I am not sure who they use, but I think I can email them to ask? I might just do that

It might just be a bit overkill for diecast cars and stuff (How heavy are they btw? Afaik there is no minimum weight for it so if it's like 500gms total then it would be half). But you can never tell with customs honestly. 10k shoes go by without any customs. Bloody get hit with 2k customs for a gift from UK. Previously toys and other electronics were just not encouraged to be imported at all as they would impose a sky high duty. And yes customs is covered. Reason I suggested them is because they have warehouses for the US and UK too which might open up some more stores for you (and to anyone else reading this thread)
I'll update this thread once my shipment comes through but many others have used them before me. I think this would suit the china import thread better lol

Email the shop and find out, but I believe it's more than likely yanwen from what that post indicates

Super light. It's the same size as a HotWheels.

I do have contacts in the US but I'd like to get this one directly if I can, hence the whole customs discussion. If not I could just order it to one of them and just wait.

I will, thanks for your advice

Yeah they're still good, they won't take electronics such as laptops or phones but stuff like harddrives etc are fine. Just note that they will ship it in whatever box the seller ships it in.
