In my 8 years of job I have started filing IT returns only since 2014-15 from when my salary came into tax bracket.

The reason, my salary didnt came in taxable slab and nor did my employers issued Form16 which might be due to my less salary.

Also the awareness of IT filing began just few years back when maximum people started filing taxes.

& now being the season to file IT, this query came to my mind.

Now even if I want to file IT for my older jobs but where the salary was way below 15k mark and in the absence of Form 16 from older employers, is it advisable to file IT?
I think its not possible to file IT in the absence of Form 16 right??

Most importantly: In one of my older jobs my employer did issued me Form16 but I didnt care of filing IT as I simply ignored due to my less salary.
This was for year 2013-14.

Now is it necessary or advisable to file IT for that missed year wherein the charges show zero tax.

It is not mandatory to file IT if your salary is below the threshold. It is good to file IT since it may be required at a later stage. For example, for certain countries visas they require the previous 3 years of your IT return. Even some companies insist on it if they plan to send you on overseas assignments.

As long as your 2013-14 income didn't cross the threshold you have nothing to worry about.

I just spoke to my IT consultant in this regards and here was is response:
"Since he is not eligible for any deduction, it is not necessary to file the return:

So no need to worry and also from your scenario its more than 3 yrs you are already filing returns so now continue every year even if you are jobless in between or get a gap intentionally or for any reasons.

i filed IT withour form 16 as i was in a hurry to get tax refund. It got processed. You don't need to file anything for those years.
