I was recently trying to mess with my spare karbonn A2 phone and found that Mediatek based phones have hidden settings in engineering mode. There is an option to change the maximum volume of headset , loudspeaker etc also and by changing it the loudness of the speaker and headset has improved a lot .. It should work with Micromax , Karbonn and other brands but not sure.
To open the engineering mode - in dialer type *#*#3646633#*#*
change the volume settings in Audio.
Other settings like camera etc are also there but change them on your own risk
