Increasing the Size of Fonts and icons

I am using Windows XP a 19 inch widescreen LCD at a resolution of 1440x900 and the whole display at this resolution look very small including the fonts and all the icons, is there a way to increase the size of the fonts and icons without having to change the resolution?
 
Method 1: desktop (right click) > display properties > appearance > font size > large or extra large

Method 2: desktop (right click) > display properties > settings > advanced > general > dpi setting > large size (120 dpi)

click apply and ok
