India ranks 14 In Global PC Security , Ahead of US , Japan & China

Security software provider McAfee conducted a global security study , analysing data from voluntary scans of an average of 27-28 million PCs per month, to determine a global estimate of the number of consumers who have basic security software installed .

The study found that 83% of consumers had working basic security protection, and 17% of PCs scanned either had no anti-virus installed or the software was installed but disabled.

The study also revealed that India is ahead of countries like the US , China , Japan , Singapore , Mexico when it comes to users having basic security installed and running on systems .

India ranks 14th when it comes to percentage of consumers with basic security protection with 82.67% percent users . Finland has highest percentage with 90.30% users followed by Italy with 82.67% and Germany with 85.55 % .

When it comes to number of consumers unprotected ( No Anti-Virus Installed or the Software was Installed, but Disabled) , India ranks 10th with 17.32 percent users unprotected .

McAfee also points out the consequences of unprotected PCs and says that security software is best defence against cyber crime .
