Indian Media going Insane?

OK Guys,

Whatever happened in Mumbai past week is a national shame because it was a huge lapse from our govt's side. Specially after it's revealed that our agencies had info about these attacks before-hand. Each and every politician is being blamed and rightly so.

BUT,

I think the media is blowing everything out of proportion.

Let me give you few examples:

Yesterday, BJP's national VP Naqvi shared his views about the people coming out on streets and slamming the politicians.

Now before I say what he actually said, I want to tell that I saw these bunch of people on TV who came to the streets and chanted slogans against our politicians. Believe me, the first thing which me, my brother and my mother uttered after watching these protesters was "attention seekers". That's because they were hardly sympathetic and rather smiling/laughing before the camera. I swear about it. When reporter asked them (In Hindi) each of them (men and women alike) preferred to respond in English. Fair enough, I didn't like it, case closed.

Then came Naqvi, who presumably cited the same incident. He said, "We shouldn't really give importance to the RGV's visit to taj." and "Those women with lipstick and powder and men in Coat and tie coming out on the streets, Instead of shouting against our enemy are despising the politicians and democracy. The same is the case in kashmir where 'ugravaadi' tries to shake trust in democracy." "Why should I regard those odd 10 people as Voice of India? Instead, these NGO's should be investigated as to how they can do such processions". etc. I am just writing what I remember.

Now as I said, I am presuming that he's mentioning about the same people I saw. Even I felt that they were fake. But look at media's headline: "People slam politicians; BJP leader calls them terrorists". They also accused him of gender bais, even though he also commented on men.

Same is the case with Vilasrao Deshmukh. Even I objected when I saw RGV in Taj with Ritesh. But RGV Clarified that he came to meet ritesh, and that he was talking to him while walking out of the house, and then they joined up with CM's convoy to the taj. He said it was not planned or conditional. He also said he didn't even know CM formally

Now I know that doesn't makes a good excuse. But still, why is media making such a huge issue over it? They're demanding an apology from ramu. Why? For whom? Did public ask for it?

Then this minster from RSS somewhat defended Naqvi saying "His terminology might be wrong, but feelings aren't. We shouldn't blame the politicians so excessively, agressively, etc" And media has included him in their flashes as "Shameless politicians".

Now comes the Kerala CM. OK Honestly speaking, as much as I feel proud for Unnikrishnan's brave efforts, I felt really sad the way his father treated kerala CM. I mean if one doesn't wants to respect other as a politician, at least respect him on the scale of age and seniority. His father, though I understant must be truly going through traumatic condition, was not at all polite. CM came all the way from kerala just to console, whatever his intentions may be, his father should have given him a politeful send off, if he really had to.

And now when Kerala CM commented (I couldn't understand the original video, so going by the media's translation) that "had he not been unnikrishan's parent, even a dog wouldn't have come to see him", which is obviously bad and offensive, I don't understand why the media is blowing it out of proportions. Using headlines like "Even dogs won't make visit to Martyr's homes" which is obviously twisted badly.

I again say I am not defending any politican. I hate them as I hated them before. But I think Media is uncontrollably going insane. They're making senseless polls, picking petty things and making a huge issue out of it. I think it's just plain bad. Almost every news reader is spewing hyperbole bullshit against whoever politician s/he pleases. Politician may or may not have realized their lapse, but everything has a limit and this media, if goes out of control, cannot be tamed.

Naqvi already apologized to those who may have found his comment offensive, but media says "Is it genuine apology?" I mean what the heck, do they want Naqvi to hang himself? Do they want to run the country?

By all accounts, politicians are responsible for the mess and rightly deserves the blame. But these media are painting them as the real enemies, which is wrong.

After all, its a TRP and SMS Vote Bank politics for Media too. :@

Bang On. Indian Media have indeed gone insane and they are doing all sorts of nonsensical things just to get them TRPs and more viewers.

Best solution - Switch off the freaking box!!! Thats what ive done.

I kept track of things till saturday morning and after that expected the same things that are happening now which is total waste of time.

^^ Yeah, but the media is over the internet too, so you can't ignore it. You open any portal (NDTV, Times, IBN) and you get to read such silly headlines. :@

i am fine with over coverage...but not with gobbling up money from viewers in times like these through SMS'es..they r not even free to air channels..they r subscription based channels with good ad revenues..

politicians are the real enemy ....if not for the media , this thing will be forgotten ...i do hope they keep this issue burning for a long time so that atleast the politicians will do something ....you call it TRP ...i call it finally some sense will prevail.... and no ...these guys have no excuses for all that you have listed. ..none

To be honest, I too felt that Unnikrishnan's father overreacted quite a bit. The Kerala CM's remarks seem to be in indignant retaliation i.e. in reponse to being insulted.

I think it's a case of both sides overreacting. It would be better to let the father's reaction slide given the loss he's just had but I guess the CM also felt insulted.

Note that apart from this incident, the apathy of politicians towards security should not be forgotten. I don't care if they are being treated unfairly at this point. The common man has to taste unfairness everyday. But I do agree that the media is really doing anything to grab attention. One thing I still find funny is how a few personalities suddenly decide Mumbai has had enough and it's time to do something. Someone rightly said that it's just the numbness and apathy that exists in the city that these idiots consider as the never say die spirit of Mumbai.

I am possibly with you on the other two (I didnt see either incidents on TV or otherwise, so I'll take your word for it)

But this one is something I feel the media should cover with even more zeal

It's nearly impossible for you & I to understand the extent of pain & angst in the heart of the father of a young man who was slain while serving the nation

If he feels that the Kerala CM was there solely to grab political mileage (Doesnt matter if he was right or wrong), that's what His thoughts were, and any sane human being would respect and honor the sentiments of this man

Oh, well, anyone but jerk politicans

What if his father , in his heart , thought that it was the impotency of politicians that was the root cause of his son's death?

And would YOU (or any regular human being) have the audacity to go to a funeral where it's already clear you aren't welcome...

Mr Unnikrishnan has all the rights to choose or refuse entry right to his son's funeral..and only a jerk would refuse to understand that

These guys would have sold india if not for the media..

That man lost his son, why did the CM have to react like that:@, what excuse did he have? Its senseless to even blame the father of a martyr, a person who's just lost his son, or to sympathize with these jerk politicians..

They are shameless pigs, its their callous attitude that's led them to this day..And rightfully so, If this helps the people of this country wake up, then i'd rather prefer few oldies dying from heart attack or shock than those patriotic soldiers..

I think now is the time to build pressure instead of helping them find a way out..This is the time to actually force them to make up what they did to India for the last 50 yrs..its the time for payback..

even though media has is covering its financial gains thru the current events, it is still helping us !

the politicians do not listen to common man but if the same common man gets media involved in his mission then the whole india watches !

Common Man + Media both help each other in a way !

Sandeep's dad is a real gentleman, things could be worse for the CM who was shown the door. Imagine what would happen to the CM if he came to Mumbai without security and stood among the people for a minute.

The news media has always been about TRP ratings for the last few years. If they were not broadcasting this they would probably broadcast a cat with 5 legs or some dumb celebrity talking about their latest diet or movie.

Still the fact that replaying R.R.Patil's statements got him to resign makes me glad about the fact that they are overdoing it.

Shame on 'India TV' for broadcasting Interview of terrorist. Why to propagte their agenda on our network. TRP hungry retards.

South politicians are not at all bothered about India; to them South is their territory. I bet any one of them know our 'National Anthem'.

The fact is even though CM was insulted or whatever, he should have considered the situation of the father before commenting such stupid remark - which he considered retaliation, besides he being CM needs to have higher threshold for these kinds of remarks..

:P

Okay just kidding....

I was at a waiting lounge of a Steel Plante here @ Visakhapatnam today,

There was one Gentleman who was HIGHLY INSIPRED to do a Rang De Basanti... He actually propogated the idea to bomb the parliament.. and said these politicians were keeping the Parliament Shootting master mind Ghazi still alive.....

Blah blah Blah...

After which I decided to interview and said, doing this would do nothing but for the Media to declare him another Ghazi,

He was for the idea of starting afresh.. with a entire new group of Politicians...

I rather think collective like minded people, should join Politics right from the Municipals Elections onward to bring in a collective change.....

Hmm all this has happened and i just remembered that there is a president in our country as well....but where is she??

Meh, Can people stop starting Mumbai terror attack related threads already :S ..... This is seriously irritating.
