OK Guys,
Whatever happened in Mumbai past week is a national shame because it was a huge lapse from our govt's side. Specially after it's revealed that our agencies had info about these attacks before-hand. Each and every politician is being blamed and rightly so.
BUT,
I think the media is blowing everything out of proportion.
Let me give you few examples:
Yesterday, BJP's national VP Naqvi shared his views about the people coming out on streets and slamming the politicians.
Now before I say what he actually said, I want to tell that I saw these bunch of people on TV who came to the streets and chanted slogans against our politicians. Believe me, the first thing which me, my brother and my mother uttered after watching these protesters was "attention seekers". That's because they were hardly sympathetic and rather smiling/laughing before the camera. I swear about it. When reporter asked them (In Hindi) each of them (men and women alike) preferred to respond in English. Fair enough, I didn't like it, case closed.
Then came Naqvi, who presumably cited the same incident. He said, "We shouldn't really give importance to the RGV's visit to taj." and "Those women with lipstick and powder and men in Coat and tie coming out on the streets, Instead of shouting against our enemy are despising the politicians and democracy. The same is the case in kashmir where 'ugravaadi' tries to shake trust in democracy." "Why should I regard those odd 10 people as Voice of India? Instead, these NGO's should be investigated as to how they can do such processions". etc. I am just writing what I remember.
Now as I said, I am presuming that he's mentioning about the same people I saw. Even I felt that they were fake. But look at media's headline: "People slam politicians; BJP leader calls them terrorists". They also accused him of gender bais, even though he also commented on men.
Same is the case with Vilasrao Deshmukh. Even I objected when I saw RGV in Taj with Ritesh. But RGV Clarified that he came to meet ritesh, and that he was talking to him while walking out of the house, and then they joined up with CM's convoy to the taj. He said it was not planned or conditional. He also said he didn't even know CM formally
Now I know that doesn't makes a good excuse. But still, why is media making such a huge issue over it? They're demanding an apology from ramu. Why? For whom? Did public ask for it?
Then this minster from RSS somewhat defended Naqvi saying "His terminology might be wrong, but feelings aren't. We shouldn't blame the politicians so excessively, agressively, etc" And media has included him in their flashes as "Shameless politicians".
Now comes the Kerala CM. OK Honestly speaking, as much as I feel proud for Unnikrishnan's brave efforts, I felt really sad the way his father treated kerala CM. I mean if one doesn't wants to respect other as a politician, at least respect him on the scale of age and seniority. His father, though I understant must be truly going through traumatic condition, was not at all polite. CM came all the way from kerala just to console, whatever his intentions may be, his father should have given him a politeful send off, if he really had to.
And now when Kerala CM commented (I couldn't understand the original video, so going by the media's translation) that "had he not been unnikrishan's parent, even a dog wouldn't have come to see him", which is obviously bad and offensive, I don't understand why the media is blowing it out of proportions. Using headlines like "Even dogs won't make visit to Martyr's homes" which is obviously twisted badly.
I again say I am not defending any politican. I hate them as I hated them before. But I think Media is uncontrollably going insane. They're making senseless polls, picking petty things and making a huge issue out of it. I think it's just plain bad. Almost every news reader is spewing hyperbole bullshit against whoever politician s/he pleases. Politician may or may not have realized their lapse, but everything has a limit and this media, if goes out of control, cannot be tamed.
Naqvi already apologized to those who may have found his comment offensive, but media says "Is it genuine apology?" I mean what the heck, do they want Naqvi to hang himself? Do they want to run the country?
By all accounts, politicians are responsible for the mess and rightly deserves the blame. But these media are painting them as the real enemies, which is wrong.
After all, its a TRP and SMS Vote Bank politics for Media too.
