India once again had the slowest average Internet speed among APAC countries, according to a study by content delivery network Akamai Technologies for its Q1 FY16 State of the Internet report. India’s average connection speed during the quarter was 3.5 Mbps, Philippines also had the same speed (3.5 Mbps). South Korea recorded the highest average speed in APAC (and globally) with 29 Mbps.

Global average: The average Internet speed globally stood at 6.3 Mbps, during Q1 FY16 peaking at 34.7 Mbps.

How did the average go up to 3.5Mbps?!!!?!

Other than Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune very rarely do we get high bandwidth internet at low cost. Even Airtel and BSNL are stuck at mostly 2Mbps levels!

Now, many of the private ISPs (read cable operators and etc) use peer exchange services to save on downloads from CDN and torrents. I can attest to the same in Mumbai, Gujrat and other places.

Now, a CDN has released a study for the speeds. On the akamei network, I get speeds of 30 Mbps on average. This must be pulling up the speeds.

3G and 4g have been implemented that's why the average is as high as 3 Mbps.
But if you consider total data bandwidth provided to Indians then India would score horrible low.

What's the use of 3 Mbps 3G connection if users can afford only a few GBs at low cost.

Corporate greed won't let us have truly unlimited net connection.
I would wait for rates to go below 50 rs per gb.

When you think it will happen?[DOUBLEPOST=1467439391][/DOUBLEPOST]Rt now Airtel is at 100 rs per gb.for higher LTE plans.[DOUBLEPOST=1467439558][/DOUBLEPOST]Airtel does offer great speed go upto 45 Mbps and all.but its all limited to certain gb.

ACT Fibernet is providing good speeds throughout Andhra and Telangana. In my town, minimum speed ACT provides is 5 Mbps. Since many people are using ACT , this surely contributed for increase in average internet speed.

ACT's speeds are way high as per these stats. No other provider is even close enough.
