Indiatimes mail will be shutting down for ever after February 18th 2013. Saw this notice when I was about to log in today.
This is to inform that the Indiatimes.com Email Service will stop accepting new users from 19th November, 2012.

The Indiatimes.com Email Service ("Service") will be discontinued and shall be permanently shut down with effect from 18th February, 2013 at 12 PM (Indian Standard Time).

You will no longer be able to send or receive mails or access your account for the purpose of reading mail and/or transfer any data (i.e. emails, tasks, documents, folders, appointments, and/or contacts) currently saved in your account post 18th February, 2013 - 12 P.M(Indian Standard Time). You are advised to immediately download all your emails/contacts/data from your Indiatimes mailbox via IMAP at the earliest.

You can continue to log in to all Times Internet Limited network sites using your Indiatimes.com email address.
Indiatimes Email FAQ

Need to import all my mails to my gmail account. Damn, need to change my default mail id in many places too.

They will be missed. They gave me my shortest email-id though their email interface was not up to the mark. Thanks for updating.

My first email ID was from Indiatimes... but always hated their clumsy and non-user-friendly interface

Even my first mail id were with them. And also their service was speed as a thunder whereas hotmail used to take ages to load.
Will be missed surely.

gmail does not support importing through imap. ended up downloading thunderbird. need to download 1500+ emails as backup :(

Around 10+ years back when i had new internet connection, i had created my new email at indiatimes and at some 7-8 different domains like hotmail, yahoo etc. Because i thought we need to have a different email id for each domain and everyone did the same. Noob days.
