:SThere's a lot of backstory to this issue, stuff that I've tried and all, but I'll try to cut out the fluff and the reasoning and just give the relevant info:

First, specs:

Dell Inspiron 1420, Vista Home Basic 32-bit, T5500, , 80 GB Hard Drive 1 GB RAM .

Now, history:
today in th morning i was installing Ubuntu . The keyboard was definitely working directly before the installation, Since i was getting late to going office i abort from installation pressing power button before the step partion of HDD. in the evening when i again started installation this time keyboard stop respond except some key like window key. Then I hooked up logitec wireless keyboard & with the help of this i formatted
whole drive and install Ubuntu but now again keyboard not working
then again i intall window 7 and
, however, during the installation. After the installation, the keyboard would not work with Ubuntu, window, or the BIOS. Long story short, I've updated the BIOS, , removed Ubuntu, but the keyboard still doesn't work.

The twist:

After installing Ubuntu, my computer started beeping at me after the BIOS loaded, which it still does. I can't figure out what this beeping means, and it doesn't do it every time, maybe 80%. It runs its course on its own after anywhere from four to a few dozen beeps, stops beeping, and loads up the OS. I can make it stop beeping by hitting any key on the keyboard - the one that isn't working.

Finally, the question:

What can I do to get the keyboard working again? ::(
