Install Windows 7 using an external USB drive?

On a brand new machine, can I install (boot up) Windows 7 using an external USB drive?

It's got a 500 gig virgin, unpartitioned hard disk

The machine doesn't have a DVD drive.

You can use MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM. It's completely free. Mount the drive first and then copy the files to the USB.
